In our era,technologies have been penetrating quickly into our daily lives and jobs unconsciously,whether we like them or not.We now seem to be more and more dependent on those modern technologies.Can you image that what our lives would be without telephone,TV,and plane?Undoubtedly,with the introduction of those new technologies which were invented out uninterruptedly and were utilized into our own lives extensively ,our social customs and ethics have been altered dramatically . However, it seems to be arbitrary to say that technologies not only influence but actually determine social customs and ethics.

Admittedly,the development of technology have been obviously changed some of our social customs and ethics which we have insisted for thousands of years,and the change is going.For instance,with the development of the modern communication technologies such as telephone,e-mail,etc,we are becoming less and less likely to pay a New Year call to a friend by making a visit to his/her home,and instead,we prefer to give out our bressings through tel and e-mail,which are believed more convenient and less disturbing to others.

However,no evidence can be available to demonstrate that technologies can actually determine social customs and ethics.Conversely,technology is, from time to time,blocked or accelerateed by entrenched social customs and ethics.For example,cloning human,the most controversial technology in the early of the 21th century,even encouraged at the first time for its potential benefits to humankind,now,have been baned strictly by most of nations in the world,just because that this technology might make an unimaginablly tremendous impact on social customs and ethics allover the world.

Although diverse in different countries,social customs and ethics of most nations have been evolving over lots of  centuries,and,to a large extent,are closely related to the ideality,religion,and experience of each nation,so they can remain comparatively stable in a certain period,in spite of the influences exerted by such other factors as technology.

In sum,from what we have been experiencing in our daily lives and jobs,we can make a conclusion that technologies really have influenced social customs and ethics.Nevertheless,considering many factors affecting the formation of customs and ethics,it is a little hasty and imprudent to say that social customs and ethics are determined by technologies.
