小弟人生第一次写AW,请大家无情地批吧。

TOPIC: ISSUE17 - "There are two types of laws: just and unjust. Every individual in a society has a responsibility to obey just laws and, even more importantly, to disobey and resist unjust laws."
WORDS: 475          TIME: 00:44:27          DATE: 2011-1-16 15:10:37
The speaker claims that everybody should have the responsibility to obey the just laws while disobeying the unjust ones. As far as I am concerned, I am inclined to refute this view of extreme. We should comply to laws, even if some of them neglect caring the protection of a small group of people, let's say, the unjust laws to them.
Law is definited as a system of rules, as an intepretive concept to achieve justice, as an authority to mediate people's interests. According to this defination of law, we can straightforwardly understand that law will sacrifice certain small groups' interests when it is functioned as its justice. Thus, to these certain groups of people, laws are unjust, although the laws meet the need of most populace. In China, the Laws of Marriage has demonstrated clearly that in case of divorce, the shared accumulation of fortune should be divided half for husband and the other half for wife. At first glance of it, we feel it is very fair for either husband or wife, for the fortune is evenly divided after divorce. But this law fails to look into who contributes more to the shared fortune accumulated. So it is forever impossible to achieve justice. Thus, we can easily get to the conclusion that whether the laws are just or not varies for different people.
In addition,  to determine whether laws are just or not is a complicated issue in nowadays society. The question here is who should decide which laws are just and which else are not. As long as people have the right to determine the just or unjust laws, there is never absolute justice in laws which serve our society's peace, harmony, and advancement.
However, by conceding that unjustice exists in our current legislation system, shall we not have to obey the rules? The answer is definetely NO. As members of a society, we have the compulsory obligation to obey all laws which have been built up. If we violate the laws which we think unjust or unfair to us, the bahavior itself is violation which must be harmul to others' interest and our whole society. This unreasonable action doesn't accord the all-round well being which laws are working for.
It is not unusual that some laws have the deficieny due to the society change with the time advancing. The laws to meet the need of democratic society should be adaptable and flexible. If there are indeed unjust laws in some regards, our government should study them and consider the possibility of the adjustment after getting the appeal from people. Anything will be outdated if it is not changed according to the society growth, laws included.
To conclusion, we strongly recommend the people should take the responsibility of obeying the laws. Meanwhile, we should also update the laws with the social change.
