What people dress and act will definitely reflect their attitudes and interests and it is reasonable for a person to tell much about a society based on the appearance of a its people. The way people look, dress and act really reveal their preferences and attitudes. The appearance is a reflection of a person's inner world. What people like will be showed to others from their actions and dress. It is hardly for people to try to hide their thinking by disguising appearances and behaviors. For example, if we see a young man wears sporting clothes in his spare time everyday, we can learn that it is possible that he does a lot of sports as a hobby or even sporting is his career. If a person goes to the gym to play basketball with friends or solely, he/she may enjoy playing basketball very much. On the contrary, have you ever seen a person who hates doing exercises but do many things related with sports and even dresses himself/herself as a player?
In our common sense the answer is no. Thus, from these instances, it is strongly supported that what people look and act reveal their attitudes and interests.

As for the society, we can tell much about the society's ideas and values based on its people's appearance and behaviors. People are the fundamental element of a society and their actions and clothes demonstrate ideas and values of the society. Turn first to the appearance. For instance, in Arabic world, women wear masks when they are out of home. By observing the dresses, we can know this It is a social tradition that women's faces should not be seen by other people. Thus, the way that how people dress themselves can reveal a society's ideas. When it comes to the actions, we will get the same conclusion. Here is an illustration. Presently, people in the society have tried their best to improve the environmental quality. For instance, we have planted billions of trees every year and recycled the wasted water for watering plants. All of these behaviors show that people have already made a decision to make a difference in the environment in order to build a sustainable world. These two aspects of people, appearances and behaviors, can illustrate the whole society's ideas and values.

In addition, besides actions and dresses, in order to learn a society's ideas and values we ought to learn its own culture as well. Thanks to the globalization, more and more foreign cultures have influenced people in many aspects, including the way how they dress and act, and even shadow the tradition one. Thus, we will never get the well-rounded knowledge of a society's idea and values if we just based on their appearances and behaviors. Consider the Chinese teenagers. With the development of global views, people, especially the young, in China have been influenced greatly by outer cultures like hip-hop. Nowadays, teenagers wear soft clothes and enjoy singing rap instead of traditional ones. But this does not mean Chinese have replaced their used ideas and values entirely.
People still regarded Spring Festival as the most important festival and interested in opera. These ideas and values can not be easily seen in people's daily life such as the way they dress and act. Hence, to better understand a society, it calls for the particular study of society's culture.

To sum it up, the appearances and behaviors not only reflect an individual's preference but also show the society's ideas and values. Moreover, study of culture is also a vital factor of a better understanding of the society.
