There is no consensus on whether children should be taught to manage their money at an early age. From my point of view, it is necessary for both parents and teachers to teach them to do so. Only in this way, could children be able to become a financially independent adult.

Admittedly, there is no denying the fact that managing money at an early age is a rather difficult task for teenagers, especially for one who dwelled in the rural areas. Moreover, undue instruction may also constitute detrimental elements on children's behavior. However, with careful tactic and education, we may overcome the above demerits and offer children with a good condition.

The first good thing about learning to manage their money is that this could give people an instructive lesson to save money at an early time. According to my own experience, when I was ten I received about 10 cents from my father every week. I deposit this money in an old box for years and finally used it to buy a series of encyclopedia. This experience, even though small, makes me realize that small things could add up to function under different scenarios.

Furthermore, managing one's own money could make them more careful with money and give them a good sense in dealing with financial issues later in life. When my brother finally makes it to buy a new car, I could not believe it. Poor as he is, no one would have thought about some luxuries he could buy. Yet he did it! With his excellent managing skills he developed from his childhood, he made a lot of money in the stock market. This example may aptly illustrate that learning to manage money at an early age is of vital importance in the long run.

To sum up, managing one's own money helps people gain a good sense in dealing with financial issues and to save money at an early time. In this way, people would be more productive and make more money in the future.
