昨天看了raccoon的<argument就应该这样写>系列文章,很受启发,自己在过题的时候开始特别关注结论前提这个事情,但是有些题我觉得前提合理吧,又有些没事找事了,故有以下疑问,以A164,A237为例:
A164 Claitown大学造校舍的,原题如下:
Claitown University needs both affordable housing for its students and a way to fund the building of such housing. The best solution to this problem is to commission a famous architect known for experimental and futuristic buildings. It is common knowledge that tourists are willing to pay money to tour some of the architect's buildings, so it can be expected that tourists will want to visit this new building. The income from the fees charged to tourists will soon cover the building costs. Furthermore, such a building will attract new students as well as donations from alumni. And even though such a building will be much larger than our current need for student housing, part of the building can be used as office space.
我觉得这个结论"The best solution to this problem is to commission a famous architect known for experimental and futuristic buildings."的前提应该是"楼已经造出来了".刚想到这点的时候我也觉得有点搞笑,但是往下深思,觉得有道理,请看题目:
Claitown University needs both affordable housing for its students and a way to fund the building of such housing.
原文中要解决的是fund,翻译过来应该是"融资"的意思,也就是在没钱的情况下想办法筹钱.而文章往下展开的“游人参观,收门票,校友捐赠...”的基础就是楼已经立在那了.明显,这个后面的一切都没有回答怎么把盖楼的钱先搞到手这个问题,也就是后面的东西跟面临问题(融资)毫无关系.
不知道这个前提分析的对不对,恳请大家指点迷津.

再看一题,A237,Beauville收税的,原题如下,
The following appeared as part of an article in a local Beauville newspaper. “According to a government report, last year the city of Dillton reduced its corporate tax rate by 15 percent; at the same time, it began offering relocation grants and favorable rates on city utilities to any company that would relocate to Dillton. Within 18 months, two manufacturing companies moved to Dillton, where they employ a total of 300 people. Therefore, the fastest way for Beauville to stimulate economic development and hence reduce unemployment is to provide tax incentives and other financial inducements that encourage private companies to relocate here."
我分析的结论是:

最终就是reduce unemployment
这个结论的前提是B的经济状况需要刺激,(注意hence)而且降低失业率是stimulate的必然结果.乍一看也很搞笑,刺激经济那不好了,谁的经济不需要刺激?对,就是这个问题.不同地区发展水平不一样,developing地区可能急需发展经济,但是很多developed地区已经把关注重点从经济发展转移到了社会关系等问题上,比如环保与否,是不是可持续发展呀,等等.完全有可能B根本不需要刺激经济,它的失业率已经很低了.另一方面,stimulate不一定会降低失业率,随着产业结构的升级,生产过程自动化,对人的依赖越来越少,反而有更多的人丢掉工作.
