Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The government should support scientific research that does not have any practical use.

Whether or not should government support scientific research that does not have any practical use? Public opinion polarized into completely opposite opinions on the issue. The most widely accepted viewpoint, championed by most people, is that the government should try their best to support scientific research. Coincident with the opinion of many people is my heartfelt agreement with the idea that the government should spare no effort to foster scientific research.

Among the most convincing reason from supporter for scientific research should be regarded, one should be stressed is that scientific research is the most important way to promote human progress and government is the essential source of financial aid for such researches. There is no denying the fact that scientific discovery is the key of human progress including biology, psychology, agriculture and so forth. An apt illustration about this progress involves cloning technology, which is one of the most astonishing and challenging biomedical techniques, has extremely improve the quality and output of corns. It illustrates an undeniable fact that the more discovery of scientific research, the higher speed of human advance. Consequently, the government should support the scientific research without any thinking.

In addition to scientific research playing a role of human progress and government is the only character to support it, another reason is that scientific research that does not have any practical use presently can hold significant meanings and use in the future. For supporting examples one need look no further than Edison, a famous scientist who developed many devices that greatly influenced life around the world, especially the light bulb. Before inventing the light bulb, he had researched hundreds of thousands material, which is meaningless at first. Thanks to those researches, he succeeded. The situation is not isolated. In fact, we have to admit the fact that without the scientific research that have no practical use presently, it would have no scientific research in practical using.

In conclusion, I posit that the government should aid scientific research whether they have any practical use or not. When the government spend so much money constructing new office building, isn’t it necessary that give some aids to scientific research without adequate funding?
