四月份AW,到现在才开始练习!罪过!
第一篇argu用了一个钟头只憋出来370个字。。泪奔。。各种求拍求指教!
Argument 165
The speaker states that the tuna cans do not contain chemicals that cause dizziness and nausea among consumers. To substantiate the conclusion, the speaker cited a result from a study which indicates that there are only three among eight chemicals which is blamed for posing health threats were found in tuna cans. The author also suggests that these three chemicals are natural and harmless which in all canned foods. The author’s conclusion appears to be somewhat convincing, however, further reflection reveals that the author fails to lend credible support to the argument, which renders it untenable.
Firstly, the result of the study is vague and unreliable. We are not informed the number of the sample tested by chemists from Promofood. The author provides no evidence that whether the number of the sample are enough and whether the subjects are randomly chosen. Thus the result might not be representative and unreliable. Furthermore, the authoritativeness is still open to discussion for the reason that the testers from the Promofoods may release results that are beneficial to the company. In other words, the study itself lacks independence, rendering it very likely to be biased.
Secondly, the speaker asserts that tuna cans are safe by pointing out the three chemicals discovered in the tuna cans as well exists in other canned foods, but he fails to prove that other canned foods, too, do not cause health problems. Therefore, it is unwarranted to state that tuna cans exerts no harmful influence. Even assumes that these three chemicals poses no harm, chances are that other chemicals in the tuna cans may also trigger dizziness and nausea. Without ruling out the possibility mentioned above, the author can not jump to the assertion that the recalled tuna cans contain no threats to the people.
To sum up, the author fails to provide abundant and convincing evidence to prove that recalled tuna cans do not necessarily cause health problems. To further substantiate the conclusion, the author needs to provide the evidence that the result of the study is impartial and representative. More importantly, we cannot be fully convinced until we are showed that other chemicals in tuna cans are likewise harmless.
