I concede that technologies influence social customs and ethics. In addition, technology in a certain extent actually leaves significant impact on its environmental social customs and mores even nearly propelling them to the edge being into collapse. However, there is no such capability of technology in determining social customs and ethics which are factually decided by the behavior and resolution of people themselves.


First of all, there is no denying that social customs and ethics has been in a large scale influenced by the increasing development of technology. As a symbol of development of society, technology to a large degree plays a pivotal role in potentially leaves impact on the customs and mores which belong to their society. As for the ancient times, the finding to the use of fire effectively solve the problem of cooking food (especially some meat). As a result of that, our ancestors began to sanctify the fire and believed deeply the enormous power of fire. Later on, fire became as some of the totem in a large number of initial tribes and adults often restrained their children's uses of fire which gradually formed to be a regulation in their tribes. As for today, the computer technology has greatly influenced modern society in communicating with friends, relatives and even strangers through the way of online-chatting to make the distant communication possible. And recently, internet greeting becomes more popular than the traditional way in greeting others on celebration days throughout China. Those benefits derived from technologies clearly demonstrate that technologies influence a lot in social customs and ethics.

Moreover, the impact of technologies is so powerful as for the customs and mores in some certain aspects in society. In recent years, there is a huge controversy on the topic of cloning, which can make it possible and it really is that scientists are able to create new lives through cells from people's bodies and the new lives are as the same as their original samples which even exceed the similarities among twins. This type of technology may gain a gigantic breakthrough in science and technology; nevertheless, it is also superior to people's traditional cognition of the ethics in differentiating distinctions from different people. Such new kind of technology results in the big explosions both in scientific disciplines and social ethics, especially the latter one. Cloning may lead the original social ethics to the edge of collapse which has a great many adverse impacts linked to social moralities.


However and fortunately, technology can hardy be the main force to determine the social customs and mores for the reason that no matter how sophisticated may technology be, it is just the tool to satisfy people's needs and desires. It is people's behavior and resolution that factually decide the shape and form of the social customs and ethics rather than technology. Social customs and mores have experienced a long process of deposition of all kinds of human activities and profound thoughts related to people themselves. In that case, as a host for those customs and mores mentioned above, people themselves, who were in charge of the patterns of social customs and ethics from the ancient times to the modern society, are the real decisive element of such things.


Without technology and its significant influence on a variety of ranges, modern society and the customs and ethics belong to it would not be what they are presented contemporarily. Undoubtedly, the development of social customs and ethics should thank greatly for the use of technology. However, technology can hardly be the decisive element which is in accountability for the social customs and ethics of the past and in the future; it is the behavior and resolution of people themselves who are capable of doing such job.
