TOPIC: ARGUMENT182 - Butter has now beenreplaced by margarine in Happy Pancake House restaurants throughout thesouthwestern United States. Only about 2 percent of customers have complained, indicating that 98 people out of 100 are happy with the change. Furthermore, many servers have reported that a number of customers who still ask for butterdo not complain when they are given margarine instead. Clearly, either thesecustomers cannot distinguish margarine from butter, or they use the term"butter" to refer to either butter or margarine. Thus, to avoid theexpense of purchasing butter, the Happy Pancake House should extend thiscost-saving change to its restaurants in the southeast and northeast as well.

The author concludes the replacement movementofbutter in Southwestern is successful, which is indicated by the low ratioof complaint and drawn by the feedback of servers, that southeast and northeastshould extend this cost-saving change now. However, it has so many loopholes asfar as I'm concerned especially appear in the feedback data and the analysis .
In my opinion, it’s hard to say thecost-saving change in southwestern is completely successful. Only 2% ofcustomers complained about the replacement don't definitely lead to theconclusion that 98 people out of 100 are totally happy with the change. Peoplemay feel it time worthless to complain about it or they may have no idea aboutthe feedback way in sometime. There could be more people who aren't satisfiedwith the change. Furthermore, the servers' report may lack of insightful investigation.Without statistics analysis, the report may not be definitely accurately. What'smore, even if the reports are 100% accurate, we cannot directly draw theconclusion that customers cannot distinguish or use 'butter' to refer to eitherbutter or margarine. People who stop complaining may feel it impolite tocomplain too much instead of mistaken or substituted reference.
Even if the southwest replacement istotally successful, it’ hard to say the southeast as well as the northeastshould extend this change. The extension may fail in half way for locationdiversion. People taste usually diverse in different locations. People innortheast and southeast may feel more dislike about margarine than those insouthwestern.
What's more in my perspective is that evenif the change come into successful
in southeast and northeast , however it still hard to conclude that it will decrease the expense brought by butter. Margarine cost may rise in different season caused by market price change or currency inflation.
As a result , the article not fully persuades us .
