I strongly agree with the claim that the purpose of education is to cultivate students’mind rather than to prepare them for a specific job. Those who hold the vocation-oriented education in my view are short-sighted and will lead our education to a quite dangerous way.

With the heated competition of job market, job is now becoming the hotest topic in our daily life even in the classroom. The intention is obviously to cater to the tastes of students and parents. More and more colleges and universities began to obsorb the talents with their promising job future in the first place instead of their distinguished professor, their advanced experiment equipment and their precedence of research. With this popular idea’s effection, the students’s mind is fraught with work. They become no longer interested in the the foundational dispiline such as math,physis,literature and the like but the repeating practice which required by some specific job. If this trend goes on that in the near future,our socity will be full of a stock of workers who work just like machine without any creativity and the nation will become none of any potential.

It is time for us to shift the purpose of education from vocation-oriented education to the fully cultivation the students’s insightful perspective,correct morality,virtues of persistence and so forth. Taking the case the perseverence as example, it is well known that without Tomos Edison’s persistence after thounds of failures to select the meaterial for filament of the first bulb, we can not sit here today to prepare for the comper_based GRE test. And morality should be as an absolutely a necessary quality to be articulated to the students regardless of what they will be: a business man, a politician, a poet or just a common clerk. It is such an basic virtue but that quite a lot of people surprising including some president do not process. Clinton’s immorality mainly because of dishonesty not only destroy himself but also give the Americian public a big hit that they are so disoppionted that indicate the word “clinton”a new meaning as cheating.  It is our education’s responibility to avoid this kind of lessons occurring once more!

Another point need to be emphasize that the value system, the set of idea which infused to students should be updataed with the time going on. There is a phenonmena in China that some faculties repeats their lectures without any alteration for several decades of years. And some textbooks never be revised more than 10 years. But 10 years can witness countless advanced theories, technology ,projects of all over the country from…to,from…to…..(谁给补充一下)，some measures should be taken to renew our knowledge and education system as quickly as possible.

In concludison, education is to help us become autonomous, creative and intelligent if its purpose is based on the cultivation our minds intead of other things such as vocation.

我觉得总体上有一定的缺陷。Position很好却没有发挥出来。第4段则是完全的败笔。再修改一下吧，如果每写完一篇就扔一边不管了是不会有进步的。

似乎,在a set of idea 上几乎没有多少论述,就直接到 "the set of idea which infused （instill into）to students should be updataed with the time going on."上去了.而updating 也应该主要是editors' responsiblity .(who complie   textbook). 如果把这一段的论述加上层次性就好了.the importance of cultivating  a set of ideas -----furthermore,ensure the iedas keeping pace with the development of our society---------more detailed discussion or instances .

    In my opinion, another facet of education function should not be ignored in order to get a thoughtful idea, that is education should cultivate competent citizens who are capable to suit for many or, at least, one single specific profession so as to make the individuals serve better for the society as well as for themselves.

It is undoubtedly that providing sudents with a value system,a standard should be the eternal of proposition of education. Value system in my opinoin contains morality just as honesty, keeping faith,loyality and many virtues such as persistence, collaboration and the like. Each of them is greatly important for every person in his whole life wheather what he will be: a business man, a politian or only a common clerk. Unfortunately, nowadays people pay more attention to one’s talents and achievements but ignore the the importance of value system, therefore, lead to much scandals occuring frequently. Taking the case of Enron for example, the reason of bankruptcy of Enron company —ever the biggest energy company in American—is vast disguised fake account made by dozens of advanced finical managements. This occurrence shocked the global and at the same began to guide people to rescrutinize our education. Recentlly,TangJun who is the president of software company in China received a interview. When he was asked what is the most consequential criterion of their enrolment, he gave the answer” loyalty “instead of super spectific programming skills which beyonds all the people’s expection. It is a good beginning,I believe that,with the time going on, people will be more and more realize the importance of value system.

Another purpose of education is bound to cultivate the students’s mind . transit a set of idea or method to help them improve the capabality of solving all kinds of problems rather than a pile of knowledge. A Chinese saying which says that just show people how to fish instead of fish gives a vivid statement. In fact, in such an information explosion era, we can assert that any knowledge is obsolete or coming obsolete. Taking the computer language for example, an voice asking which computer language he should begin with on earth can be heard. When he made his decision to start VC, another new language C# occurred, at the same time,Java is waving hand to him, he is completely confused. As a matter of fact, if we grasp the essence or method of programming ,either one is OK. We can never trace up the develop the technology, but if we master the laws contained in it, we just master the world. Education should exactly plays such an important role without any hesitantion.

In concludison, education is to help us become eligible, creative ,high efficiency and intelligent if its purpose is based on the cultivation our value system and minds intead of other things such as vocation.
