assignment 1:education-by  Diana

1 Educational institutions have a responsibility to dissuade students from
pursuing fields of study in which they are unlikely to succeed.

Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or
disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be
sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could
be used to challenge your position.


When it comes to education,we must considerate the responsibility of the educational institutions.what's the responsebility of educational institutions?there are many responsebilities,for example,about the fields of study.Is the responsebility to dissuade students from
pursuing fields of study in which they are unlikely to succeed?i don't think so. As far as the aim of education,the goal of educational Institution is not noly to make students have a fully developed individual but also to cultival more elites and special talents for society in every field.so for educational institution, i think It is not wise that the school dissuade student from studying the unsecced fields.
Firstly,i think the educational institution should supply more opportunities to lead student to learn more knowleage about more fields,other than limite the study fields.because It can broden their horizon and can find their interesting.an old saying"Interest is the best teacher",if you are interested in it,it is possible that you can susecced in every field.without interesting,without motivation,without more creations.if the college don't pay more attention to student's interesting,they maybe will lose some talent,and these students will not take the responsibilty to do his work after graduate. Although nowadays the job makert is too fierce,in order to find a good job,most people think students should to learn the major in the succeed fields. for school,it is should to induce students to develop with their interesting,character and actual situation.therefore,school should try to let student to study more fields depending on their interesting,no matter succeed or insucced fields.and educational institutions should try to find and cutivate student's interesting.becausee some students don't realize their interestings about some fields,school should induce them to learn.for example,school can take some methods to incentive students to cultivate their interesting.such as open more elective course,increase the scholarship and so forth.
Secondly,about succeed fields and unsucceed fileds,which is succeed filed?which is not?who know?i think,it is different in different age. as ancient Greek philosopher said:"there is nothing permanent except change."succeed fields and unsucceed fields are changable with the development of the society.we can't say the succeed field is permenant successful field.for example:in the twentieth century,the rapid development field is electronic information field,and the succeed field is regarded as electronic information field.then some professional person speculate that the major topic of the twenty-first century is biology,the twenty-first century is the biology century.this term of biology is too vugue,and defined as life sicence in new century.it is deemed to the rapid succeed field after the development of physic and chemistry.nowaday it is developing very quickly and biology technique is used in many fields. thus,the succeed fields is variational qucikly sometimes,not steady.It is just guessed.
In sum up,for these resons above,i disagree with this statement.i consider that educational institutions have a responsibility to supply the more chances to learn in more fields other than to dissuade students from persuing fields of the study In which they are unlikely succeed.educational institutions should try to stimulate and cultivate students' interesting.nothing is impossible,maybe they will succeed in which are regared as unlikely successful fields.



4 Formal education tends to restrain our minds and spirits rather than set
them free.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or
disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position
you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider
ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how
these considerations shape your position.


When it comes to education,we may want to discuss many topics.as far as the topic about formal education,In my view,I am not fully agree with the statement that formal education tends to restrain our minds and spirits rather than set them free.I support the former half of this sentence,and disapprove the later half.there are some reasons as following will support my opinion.
Firstly,our formal education mainly study knowledge from the designated books,it is too narrow for students to broaden their scope of knowledge,so it tends to limit our minds and spirits,but educational intitutions have set some free,not completely restrain.for example,nowadays internet is widespeard in the world,it makes the world get too small and make people closely from long distance.it has very important effects for our students on learning.we can find more useful information that we want to know from the search engine Google.and we can communate with many people,even professors.that school supplys internet is not only convenient for our learning but also free for our minds and spirits,we can swim in the ocean of internet knowledge freely,and go ahead by following my heart.internet can give us a platfrom to set the minds and spirits free.Besides,in formal education,my unversity open many selective courses besides the general courses.although the basic courses restrain our minds and spirits,for the optional courses,we can choose freely by depending on our interesting.
Secondly,for formal education,classroom is a common place to study,in the class,we listen to the teacher's speech,following the teacher's mind to think problem.although our teacher teach us many ways of learning and following this way can solve problem,our minds and spirits have no development.sometimes it likes a fixed pattern for us.however,school supply many places to set them free,such as library,playground and so on,we can study in the library to read the book we are interested to seek our minds and spirits.and uneversity give us chances to learn by experiencing In life.the playground can not only excecise our phisycal health but also set free for our psychology health.it also can set them free.so maybe the limited knowledge base of the teachers and the narrowness of the student's knowledge present the chief barriers to the implementation of research learning in their minds and spirits.but there are many ways the uneversity supplyed can make up for this flaw.
Thirdly,if we just pursue seting our minds and spirits free completely without formal education' restriction,i think our society will become so complicated ,and there will be no order and rules.for example,clone man.everyone wants to replicate himself,and owns many himself,it can do a lot of work,and can live forever.if we just follow my minds completely to clone ourselves,maybe social moralty will lose,the world will disorder and be in a mess. I can't imagine what will the world become.
In sum up,there is no easy solution to such a complex issue.as far as i am concerned,the formal education tends to restrain our minds and spirits ,and also can set them some free.unfortunately,i have no time to explore in detail,but the above-discussed reasons should to a large extent justify my claim.





6 Competition for high grades seriously limits the quality of learning at all levels of education.

these considerations shape your position.


Nowadays,It is a common phenomenon in our society that selecting the excellent/ outstanding talents Is judged by taking a test.so most people think if you want to admit into the good unversity and want to get a good job In this more competitive society,you have to get a high grades. pursuing high grades is many people's dream.however,in my view,i totally agree with this statement that competition for high grades seriously limits the quality of learning at all levels of education.
On the one hand,the goal of the education is to cultivate the needed and excellent talents for our society.hope they can apply their knowleage into the work/operation and to help humen to solve more problems.if we overemphasize the high grades,it will lead students to study mechanically/to be a bookworm. it will make the sudents' interesting reduced ,even lost their interesting.let alone to stimulate and cultivate the student's interesting.sometimes in order to pass the exam,the student just pay attation to the book about the exam,overlooking other books. because they just concern on the book for their exam,and have no more time and energy to do other things,i think this life is so simple that it maybe can make student who is interested in invention lose the motivation of creation.for example,in china,some high school want to make more students get high grades and improve their enrollment quotas,they will cancel some courses which is not related with the college entrance examnation such as music, art ,PE and so on. they just learn the subject text all the day,just like a machine to be limited in the defined /specified place,they have no their freedom mind to swim in the ocean of knowledge.i think it is bad for the quality of learning at all levels of education.
On the other hand, no matter what competition they always judged by high scores,if we overstate the importance of high scores.it will mislead people's idea about eduncation and competition.they will think attaining high scores is the only way to succeed. In order to get the high grades,they will try to make falsification by many kinds of ways,sometimes even by hook or crook.for example, it is reported that some people want to gain high grades,they gave money for the excellent people to replace himself to take part in examnation or try to buy high scorse . several years ago,it was a case that some student want ot get high scores in an Important examnation ,so they cheated by using high-technology.if so,it will not impel to improve/promote the quality of learning at all levels of education,even destory the goal of the education.
In a word,it is likely that people will never be able to arrive at the same conclusion on this controversial issue.as the reasons i have analyzed,i definitely agree with the opinion that competition for high grades seriously limits the quality of learning at all
levels of education.we should know clearly that high scores is just a factor of the standard for us to select elites,not the only factor,we should take other factors into consideration.please don't let the high geades seriously limits the quality of education.otherwise it will go against the aim of education.
