As we all know,everyone has his own unique perception or understanding with regard to the same thing so it is natural and normal that people in a group or a team hold various kinds of opinions. From my point of view, the different ideas and methods presented by team members are beneficial for a team to solve problems and then achieve the common goal.


Firstly, a team can find the best way of approaching success through the discussion of its members. Each person has his limits to some extent, no matter what his status in the group, a leader or an ordinary member, so it is necessary for a leader to collect others' points ofview toward the matter in order to better deal with it. Take my personal experience for instance, I have ever organized a team to take part in the robot contest in our university when I was in the third year during the undergraduate studies and I was a team leader. Everyone in the team was responsible for a part of the robot construction, such as hardware design, software and mechanical design. I often made mistakes when designing circuits although I thought it should be in that way, the reality was not.I was depressed and had nothing to do. Then another in my team pointed out the shortcomings of my design and then the problem wasquickly solved. From then on, I set a time schedule especially for communicating with each other and discussing the matters on the robot. Therefore, ateam leader should encourage its members to think in another way and this is helpful to solve problems efficiently.

Moreover, people's different views may help to create an active atmosphere to the group and every individual in such anenvironment would become positive and more willing in completing the work and meeting the requirements. Also using the example of building a robot mentionedin the previous paragraph, since the group meeting was built, we have been more energetic and enthusiastic to work and more likea "family", which made us feel a sense of teamwork.

Admittedly, allowing different views in a team may do harm to the aim of it sometimes. Forexample, group members should have discussed the professional affairs related to the topics of the team, however, they spent too much time talking about things of their personal interests which have no relation with group project,such as football, where and what to eat, shopping andso forth. This is a waste of time and they won't succeed at all.


In consequence, people should hold different opinions when working in a group and this isuseful to solve problems and obtain success. Meanwhile, people might become released and do their jobs positively and efficiently from discussing and communicating with other members. However, individuals in a team cannot talk too much about things irrelevant to the work and this is veryharmful, a leader should take care when this happens.
