Thereare increasing people, especially the lonely one, are keeping a pet with them.At the same time, the pet market is more and more hot. [url=]Are they spending too much money on them[/url]（confusing use of the two words they and them） ? Is there any better use forthe money spent on pets? From what I have seen or heard, I don’t hold the viewthat more people take[url=]a lot of[/url](it's too much in the oringinal title!) money on pets[url=]
[/url]， who keep pets for fun are only a small amount, and many petsdid a lot of work.




Inmy country, many people are living in very big apartment, in which condition itis not fit to raise a pet. In fact, there are not many houses keeping pets. Evenpeople who have pets are not spending too much money. The vast majority ofcitizens who have pets just
the [url=]necessary stuffs which are used for basic[/url]
(necessary and the basic are the same meaning!). Only a very rich personwould like to keep a pet and spend a lot of money on it. But compare to theircost on housing, cars, even gambling, the pets are getting much fewer. In many othercountries, there are also abandoned pets walking on the street and need a lothelp as well as some other small animals. There are no better ways to costmoney than getting the pet back from the street.


【Many of the pets raised by human/people do have functions. Theyare valuable for their masters, of whom most are the lonely people. They needpets to deminish their loneliness. There are also working dogs on the street tohelp the blind people. Most cats can catch the mice and rats which disrupt ourdaily life. For example, a few years ago, my grandpa’s house had got a lot ofmice. They eat our snacks, bite our clothes and facilities. My grandpa then kepta cat. It caught most mice and the house didn’t get damaged any more. The petshave their use. We need to spend money on them if necessary.】

To sum up, there are not manypeople who spend too much money on pets and the pets do have their use. Now it isn’tthe time to say that people are wasting money on the pets.

In the lecture, the professor made severalpoints about whether a portrait is Jane Austen or not. The reading contendsthat there is a portrait may be the famous artist Jane Austen and give severalreasons. But the professor cast doubt on all of them by using a number ofpoints as follows.


The first point that the professor castdoubt on the reading is about the families’ view. According to the reading, in1882 their families permitted that the portrait is she. But the professor had adifferent view. He said the families’ time is 70 years after the Austen died.They had not seen the novelist in person. So their view is not convincing.


Second, the reading stated that theportraits are the Cassandra’s sketch that depicts Austen. However,the professor says that the Austen was in a large family, and many of herrelatives have the similar sketch. The portrait may be one of her relatives.


Finally, the passage claimed that theportrait style can prove that the painting is made in the date when Austen is ateenager. On the contrary the professor claimed that the stamp at the back ofthe portrait is not the date that time. And the painter was not selling thepaint at London. He began the selling after Austen is 27, and that time Austenare obviously older.


In conclusion, the point made by thereading totally contrast with the reading.
