TOPIC: ISSUE54 - In order to become well-rounded individuals, all college students should be required to take courses in which they read poetry, novels, mythology, and other types of imaginative literature.

In the issue above, the speaker thinks that all students should take courses in which they read poetry, novels, mythology, and other types of imaginative literature. As is known to all, after graduation, colleges(college) students would go to work mostly in which they major and thus I think there is no need to study other courses.
Firstly, imaginative literature is a kind of course that is totally different from others such as computer science, engeneering(engineering) and economy. As we all know, students with strong professional knowledge would have much more advantages than those who are well-rounded about all things. Because companies nowadays would like college students to help to make the company more professional and stronger in order to make more money. If they hire a well-rounded student with low profession standard, the company would not make any process with the freshman.
Secondly, reading literature stands for a way of leisure instead of working for non-literature students. For example, if one are(is) tired of busy studying life, he or she would mostly choose a novel to read so as to have a rest. Because imaginative literature such as poetry, novels, mythology, and other types does not make students to use their brain to take pains think(thinking) over about it unless they study it deeply, reading it is just a way of taking a rest and does help them to study more about it even about their own displine(discipline).
Thirdly, if students do not take (an) interest in it, requiring them to do so would make them more tedious(tired) about it so that leads to (an) opposite result. As many people say, literature itself is a treasure of humans(human) thus being(删去) at a high status. However, even the most great inventor Edison, who invented light bulb, have (critiqued by)some people who don't agree with him. So, not every student like(likes) to read literature and college does not have the power to require them to do so. If they require students to read them, some of the students will hate it more.
Fourthly, with its own appalling merits, literature do(does) have some benefit(benefits) to college students who are in favor of it or enjoy it. By reading it, some students would have more common interest to talk (about) instead of their profession courses so that they can make more friends. Moreover, owning the knowledge about literature as well as their own courses, they would be more likely to receive the offer than who only major in their own courses.
In short, well-rounded individuals are not in need nowadays and colleges need not coerce them to take courses about it.
