Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The bast way to improve the quality of education is to increase teachers salaries.
As education is the key to the development of a country, the quality of education has caused wide public concern. While some people hold the oppinion that increaseing the salary is the best way to improve the quality of education, I have different viewpoint--high salary doesn't necessarily means high quality of education. More important factors ought to be taken into account.
Thers is no denying the fact that teachers are the essential parts of education. A good
teacher is a guarantee to the education of high quality. A creative English teacher may
teach
new words by inventing new method of telling relavent stories. Similarly, a experienced math professor will always know what kind of mistakes may his students make.
Then the next question may be" How to be a good teacher?" As a old saying goes, "Roman was not built in a day" Only by years of accumulation and hard working can one be a good teacher with creativity and experience, neither of which a teacher can attain simply because of the high salary he earns.
Education has also more relied on the educational equipments and resources in this information age. With the help of the libraries, students can search for the data as suplement for what they learn in the class. What's more , high-tech methods are available now. Multimedia facilities leads to a more efficient education mode. For example, teacheres are able to illutrate a diagram to students by using "powint point', a Pc software. And language learner can practice oral English by talk to a computer, which has a program that can evaluate his performance.
Education is not what is used to be 20 years ago.
Last but not the least, when it comes to education, the contribution made by the society and government shouldn't be ignored. A research shows that the Federal Government will offer special capital to the universities. Then these school can make the most of the sum of money by upgrading the equipments and resources, as mentioned above. Actually,
universities, say Yale, will not only get capital from the government, they can recieve donation from their alumnus as well. So they have a number of money to improve the quality of education. That's also one reason they grow to be so famous in the world.
Some people may argue that teacheres with more salaries will work harder. To some degree, increasing income, which may bring material incentives to teachers,
really works more or less. Compared with the factors listed above, however, its effect is subtle.
