The lecturer begs differ with the passage that a mandator policy, which allows employees to work 4 days instead of 5, has several disadvantages from the respect of employers, employees and society.
To begin with, he strongly disagree with the threshold viewpoint of the passage that such policy may at least enable the cost of running business unchanged. He claims that if the companies would have more employees with each less salaries though, as the reading material supports, the result is unlikely to be the similar with previous. Given the increasingly more employees training programmes and medical cost, as well as more office spaces and computers, the needed money would increase.
Moreover, the lecturer also refuses the point of the following benefits to society---less umemployment. According to his statement, the managers are too likely to assign 5-days work load to a 4-day-worker. In such scenario, the only result would undoubtedly be no additional jobs. While the passage claims that considering the reduction of work time of the current workers, the employer would hire more people to maintain the normal operation of his company.
Thirdly, the lecturer asserts that employees' job quality and stability would consequently be undermined since the managers may prefer to promote those employees who prefer to work 5 days a week, and therefore these 4-days workers indefinitely confront working with less pay and heavy load, or high possibility of being dismissed during depression. The benefits envisioned by passage, such as more free time and advanced life quality, do not occur.
这是独立写作,题目是:大学里运动和社交活动与上课和图书馆同样重要,且应该得到同等的财政资助。
In today's modern colleges, more and more students are releasing them out of books, since they've realized that the out-class world should be given the same priority as classes and libraries. I strongly agree that sports and social activities are important and should receive equal financial support, as the issue says. The examples and arguments listed bellow serve to strengthen my opinion.
Firstly, I must propose several advantages brought about by sports. On one hand, few would dispute that taking sports, especially those require team work like basketball and football, offers excellent opportunity for students to learn how to work with others effciently and harmoniously. Any one who has ever participated in such team-work sports may exactly understand what I mean. A good basketball match mostly need the spirit of cooperation rather than perfect solo performance. And you can never actually learn this from book learning.
On the other hand, sports equips us with a health body. It is reported that a people who take excercises 2 hours per day would live much longer than those don't. The people in poor health are more likely to be infected by various diseases. How sorry it is if you die in the acme of your achievements simply due to poor health. Moreover, health is significant not only for individual life but also for enhancing learning efficiency. No one can work for as long as 10 hours a day without several hours of break and activities. If he really does it, then I can conclude that what he get from learning generally is no more than one works 5 hours and plays 5 hours.
Social activities also assume a significant role in one's life. Friends is one must-have factor in life. No social activities almost amounts to no friends. A good friend can lift your low spirit when you're in bad mood, lend you a hand when you have troubles, give your appropriate suggestions when you have no idea about life orientation. If you really like to engage in academic areas, a friend with identical goals and ideas may progress with you together. You can share expertise, and dissolve questions. Therefore, a small coffee shop beside the library or elsewhere would be a good investment. Then after acquisition of knowledge, students could go there for a relaxation and probably make new friends.
In the final analysis, I strongly recommend the colleges pay more attention to sports and social activities and can support enough financial fund for these equipments. What students can benefit from these activities are not only pure pleasure or happiness, but also spiritual treasures they enjoy for whole life. |
