"The human mind will always be superior to machines because machines are only tools of human minds." 人类思维会一直都胜过机器,因为机器只不过是人类思维的工具而已。
Nowadays, it is controversial to conclude that the human mind will always be superior to machines . Some people are for this conclusion with a simple reason that machines are invented by human beings, and if human beings are poorly superior to them, they will no exist. To the contrary, others hold that machines, especially computers with marvelous and artificial intelligence , will ultimately surpass us in many aspects. But as far as I’m concerned, whether human beings are really superior to machines depends on the definition of the word
“superior”.
If the word, “superior , ” has been regarded as a meaning of creative and innovative ideas, the idea held by the speaker that humans are more excellent than machines, are acceptable. Without the humans’ creative ideas, machines cannot exist. To some degree, machine are regarded as a symbol of the outstanding intelligence of human. Or more accurately, they are just a assemble of human’s different thoughts. What’s more, they do not own the ability of creating a new series of knowledge based on the recent science. Thus, in these cases, machines are tools of human beings, and they are less remarkable than humans.
However, if “superior” refers to some competence to conduct complicated tasks, machines are better than humans. Owing to their efficiency and endurance, they surpass humans. A man , in spite of how high intelligence quotient is , has a limit to undertake some significantly work, for example, can you imagine a man can accurately get the most approximate value of π without a help from machines? And can men exactly control the plane when it is landing? Absolutely, it is impossible to finish these thorny tasks if there is no such precise/sophisticated machines.
What’s more, since machines, such as computers, are developing at a tremendous rate, it seems to presumptuous to assert that men
always maintain the advantage over machine. Recent studies show that we’ll witness machines can learn to think on their own, repair themselves and nurture themselves. In other words, machines will gradually obtain the traits which humans attribute superiority.
But hitherto ,it is reasonable to say that men are still in power of machines in many aspects. And humans should always keep in mind that we ought to make good use of machines and benefit us.
In sum, the statement overlooks a paradox about evaluating the machines. Machines have advantages in some areas while humans hold the edge in the realm of creative thinking. And this is why I prefer the idea that whether human beings are superior to machines depends on how we definite “superior”. Thus ,we should utilize the advantage of machines and enhance our thinking about the social life. |
