Teamwork has been considered necessary and crucial in nowadays society. Whether or not a person has the spirit of teamwork is also a measurement added to the evaluation system. However, surviving, even succeeding in a team is not supposed to be an easy deal. From one aspect, people who cannot accept criticism are not likely to succeed.

Firstly, accepting criticism from others is a method for people to improve themselves. In a team, there are people with various opinions and perspectives. Sometimes, it is difficult to tell the right and the wrong, but every individual can find out the aspect that he ignores of his ideas while other people focus on. After all, there will be shortages and disadvantages of everyone’s thoughts more or less. Thus, when other people make criticisms, it is a significant opportunity for people to find out what they need in order to be more perfect. Those who can accept the criticism properly and correct the mistakes they made just stepped out on the road heads to success.

In addition, although it is hard for people to accept criticism from others at the beginning, one cannot deny that trying to accept criticism in an appropriate way contributes to building the relationship and making the whole team full of harmony. When there is a debate or even a quarrel in a team, the person that compromises firstly needn’t be the loser. The wiser person understands that communication is the best way and his appreciation of the criticism just is another gentle way to show his respect. Accepting the criticism, claiming his shortages and then persuading other people by communicating reasonably is the most beneficial choice for a future team leader.

Admittedly, there are some other ways for a person to be successful in a team. Learning to accept criticism from other people is not the only element of a person’s success. Broad horizons, wide knowledge, the sense of cooperation, the bravery of insisting on his believes etc. also benefits to a future success. Accepting criticism is just one of the aspects.

As far as I am concerned, accepting criticism is a necessary lesson for every body. After all, admitting one’s mistakes and problems is one of the hardest things in the world. At the same time, accepting criticism is not the only way to success, but a critical one.

It is a fact that the number of people who enroll at the school is increasing continually year by year. Students are not satisfied with graduating from senior schools any more. They hope to further their education so they go to universities and colleges, some of whom even get master’s or doctor’s degrees. With the development of the whole world, there is no doubt that it is easier now for people to become educated than in the past.

Trace back through the history, education has not been as important and essential as it is now. In the past, when it was the agricultural era, what people cared most was whether their wheat and corn would harvest or not, especially for farmers. Education was not paid enough attention to since it seemed not related to the fortune directly. As a consequence, people in the past did not build the awareness of the importance of education. What’s more, because of the high cost of attending schools, it was not common for all children to get education especially those whose family was poor.

Things have changed significantly. With the rise or the awareness, people have realized that education plays an important role in the development of a society. Governments are eager to allocate large amount of money to school buildings. Schools in metropolitans become highly progressed and there are an increasing number of schools in rural areas. As the most direct financial aid to the development of education, governments play a role that cannot be replaced. At the same time, most parents are favorable to send their children to schools to be educated. People believe that only by further their education, can graduates get better jobs and higher salary, which makes a considerable influence on the whole society.

In addition, the highly development of scientific technology has made education qualified and convenient. Firstly, schools are now equipped with latest scientific achievements. Students have the great opportunity to benefit from technologies firstly. Automatic methods are adapting to laboratories and libraries, and there are both scientific and healthy trains for sports. Thanks to the internet, those who cannot go to school like normal people such as disables can get educated at home just using a computer. He can search on the internet for everything he wants to know, or listen to the open courses offered by top universities all over the world, which are all unimaginable in the past time.

Except for the facts and examples mentioned above, there are still much more advantages that make education easier compared to the past. It is reasonable to consider that education will not become a problem to all the people sooner or later.

The lecture and the reading passage talk about the topic of commercial fossil businesses. However, the speaker in the lecture claims the disapproval to the reading passage and she thinks that what considered in the reading passage are exaggerated.

First of all, the lecture denies the idea that selling and buying fossils for private benefits will decrease the chance for public to see those rare fossils and make them lose interests consequently. As the speaker in the lecture claims, universities and museums can buy fossils that they want to display. It is not unfortunate as the reading passage says; on the contrary, it is the commercial fossil business that makes universities and museums share the chance to buy those rare fossils. As a result, the public also has the access to see those heritages.

What is more, the speaker in the lecture does not believe that scientists will lose access to crucial discoveries. In fact, scientists will always be the only people to check those fossils because of their professional knowledge. Private collectors bring the fossil to the scientist to identify if it is true, by which the scientist can make researches and create new discoveries.

Besides, the speaker also holds the distinguished opinion against the reading passage about the damage private collectors will make to fossils. As the speaker concerned, it is more terrible to leave those fossils undiscovered compared to the damage. In fact, some work during the discovery of the fossil can be conducted under the cooperation with universities, and the risk will decline.

Based upon the above evidence, the speaker in the lecture thinks that the reading passage overweighs the negative consequences of commercial fossil businesses.

After years of studying, most students hope to find satisfactory jobs which not only offer high salaries but also let them practice what they have learned at school. However, there is an increasing number of students find that it is hard to adapt themselves to the employment market soon after the graduation. Thus, it is essential for colleges or universities to offer students more preparation before they start working.

First of all, it is the responsibility of colleges or universities to offer students, especially seniors, appropriate career-oriented preparation. As an institution for education, colleges and universities share the burden to bring as much as knowledge to students related and beyond to their majors. At the same time, colleges and universities also need to teach students how to apply what they have learned to their life, the professional career significantly. In other words, helping students with their careers by setting related courses and founding some organizations is also a part of the education.

What is more, it is beneficial for colleges and universities to help their students to achieve better jobs through offering preparation, since the school may build its fame and appeal to more talented students. There is no doubt that every college and university concerns about its employment rates. The more students get their contented jobs, the higher rate of the employment is. The better evaluation alumni get, the greater the school will be in the society. As a result, there will be more students apply to the school in order to get better jobs. On the other hand, the condition of the alumni’s donation will also affect the development of the school. If the alumni are rich, they may contribute much more money to help the college or university with its facilities. Consequently, offering students more preparation will motivate the development of the college or the university.

However, while offering students more preparation for their careers, college or university should also leave some time for students to consider their own problems. After all, the career of every student is based on their current condition and neither teachers nor parents can decide the future career of students instead of them. The college or the university just needs to offer some complementary suggestion or guidance to students’ careers. Besides, thinking about one’s career is an unavoidable experience. Only by asking what he really wants, can a person step out to pursue his success. Therefore the preparation offered by the college and university is critical but not the only.

All in all, offering students more preparation before they start working is beneficial to both the school and the student. After all, appropriate guidance and plans could be the supplementary for students to consider their future career.

The reading passage talks about an endangered species of tree called Torreya which was once very common in the state of Florida. There has not been any exact explanation to the cause of the decline, but experts claim that there are three ways to save Torreya. However, the speaker in the lecture confirms that none of the three ways to preserve Torreya is satisfactory.

First of all, the method to reestablish the species in the same location is unlikely to be successful. Although the specific microclimate in the northern part of Florida is pretty favorable to Torreya’s growth as it is said in the reading passage, the speaker in the lecture considers that it is the microclimate that has become a problem. Because of many factors that will affect the climate including global warming, the habitat in the place where Torreya used to live has changed a lot. And some of the regions even become drier. Even though the reading passage says that scientists have been working to plant Torreya seeds in the coolest and dampest areas of the microclimate, the speaker in the lecture thinks that anywhere in the original area of Torreya will help to save the endangered species.

Second, moving Torreya into an entirely different location will not work as well. The speaker in the lecture uses another tree as an example. The tree was moved by people to a completely different place and grew increasingly fast at the beginning. However, after a period of time, the species spread so quickly that it killed many other species around it and made other plants endangered. The way to relocate Torreya in forests further north seems to be a effective technique to help Torreya in the reading passage, while the speaker in the lecture talks more about the disadvantages and shortcomings of the migration.

What is more, preserving Torreya in research centers is not a good choice because of the population which contributes to the growth of a species. Moving seeds and samplings of Torreya from wild to the closely monitored environment as the reading passage mentions will not ensure the continued survival of Torreya. The population of a kind of plant should be genetically diverse in order to build the whole group of the plant, but the research center simply does not have enough capacity. As a result, Torreya may survive at the beginning, but it will not survive in the long term.

It is always said that the process of urbanization determines the development of a certain area. An increasing number of people are eager to settle their home in the downtown and those who are born and grow in the countryside spend all their effort to move to big cities. The fact is that people believe that they can live a better life and take care of their family members better when they live in big cities than in the countryside. There must be some explanations toward this phenomenon.

First and the most important, the public facility in big cities are mature and highly developed compared to that in the countryside. What come to be very important elements in people’s daily life must be children’s education, elders’ healthy insurance and the opportunity to get better jobs. From kindergarten to university, the education in big cities is absolutely insured. Schools have more financial aid and share the trendiest scientific achievements. For old people, they are promised by the government to enjoy the best equipped hospitals and activity centers. Adults do not need to be so worried about their parents’ healthy problems and they can work to realize their career since they are offered more chances. Famous companies prefer to set their offices in big cities rather than in the countryside. In a word, big cities are well prepared for people no matter how old they are.

In addition, the transportation system in big cites is convenient and carefully designed which keeps the whole city work well. People in big cities have various choices to the traffic. There are subways, buses, taxies, bicycles, etc. In fact, what kind of traffic tools people choose depends on what they need. If people have to commute everyday from the suburb to the city centre, they may prefer the subway since it is faster and more convenient. For those who want to have a personal space, they may choose taxies although they are more expensive relatively. And if people consider more about an environmental-friendly way, there is bicycle renting. The advantage of living in big cities is that people have more choices to satisfy their needs and take a good care of their families.

Just take a look at the condition in the countryside. Things seem to be not such easier. Although the population living in the countryside is not such much compared with the big city and the environment is better, neither the public facility nor transportation is highly developed. If people have some emergencies like a heart attack, it will take a long time for the ambulance to get people’s home. The hospital maybe not equipped enough to make an urgent heal towards the patients. Young people would not like to work in the countryside because there are not so many jobs, maybe just some farm work, not to mention those that can bring high salaries to them. Without a good condition, how can people take full care of their families?

All in all, no matter the public facility, the public transportation, or job chances are not well prepared for people living in the countryside. People in big cities can get better service and enjoy a highly developed life style, by which can people take of their family members better.
