The lecture demonstrates the diverse drawbacks due to a 4-day work week to US employees, which the content is totally distinctive to the reading passage.
Firstly,4-day work week owns potentially problems regarding the budget of a company, because more employees means there are more training and medical care free, which is rather costly. At the same time ,employees needs more work space and more working facilities ,like computer .However the reading has a completely different opinion on this.
Secondly, the reading has a positive idea relating the increase of jobs position, while the listening paragraph believe that no additional jobs will create, since the company could raise their expectation towards the employees. In this case, the workload ,which required 5 days in the past, would finish within 4-day.
Finally, the so called free personal time can also bring risks to employees .Reducing of working hours would decrease their quality of life. For example, it may reduce their job stability and decrease their possibilities of advancement. During the economic crisis, 4-day staff are highly likely to lose their jobs. Further more, there is also a problem that they may be passed over for promotion, since company prefer 5-day employees in manager positions by making sure a constant coverage and consistency
supervision
for a entire work week.

Colleges or universities, as the last station before students leave campus and step into the society, are supposed to offer sufficient preparation for graduates, and enable them to adapt to their work and career. However, many students now are not well prepared for social life , unable to fit in their jobs, to manage their time and life , or to communicate with others. Considering this, I hold that the preparation for graduates is not enough and , as proposed in the question, universities should offer more.
To be more specific, the most important preparation for undergraduates is necessary shills to make a survival . Nowadays, many graduates cannot find satisfying jobs, simply because they are not yet equipped with skills and abilities. In the light of such reality, besides those theoretical and philosophical courses which aim to spread knowledge, inspire wisdom, and cultivate minds, universities should also provide practical courses. For example, as to students majoring in computer science, they shouldn’t be only taught computer history and the principles of computer operation; they should also be given chances to access computers and to design programs by themselves.
Apart from these courses which focus on survival skills, colleges and universities should also pay attention to students’ ability to manage time and life, as well as the ability to communicate. For example, school authorities could invite higher management or HR directors of big companies to give lectures on self=management, which may lay a foundation for students’ future success on time and life managing. What’s more, universities had better provide courses on interpersonal relationship and presentation skills, by which students learn how to get along with others, how to deliver message effectively, and how to maintain a good impression in others minds. Therefore, if students are educated in these aspects, they will amply prepared for the society.
In a word, in order to help students better adapt to the society, a lot more should be done by colleges and universities.
