What makes a university famous? Briefly, there are two aspects contributing to a world-class university. One is its ability to cultivate high-quality students for the society (逗号加and么~)and the other one, is that it(it?He吧) could always stand at the forefront of science research. In other words, education and research are both important, and immeasurable loss will be resulted(能用主动句还是比较清晰明了,并且受改卷老师欢迎的:P) if either side is over emphasized. However, university professors, bearing these two responsibilities, always find it impossible to devote their limited time to educating students as well as doing research. So, I strongly recommend that a university treat these two factors equally and have a clear distribution of its professor crew on both education and research.
First, a university is not what it is without students. We have all been aware of students' importance to the future of a country. This is because students at their age(会不会口语化了点,as they are young), own the incomparable ability of learning and innovating年轻人创新能力不应该强嘛. University, served as the last station before students are involved in the complex society, should equip students with all the skills needed to survive. A complete knowledge system, with no doubt, is the basic foundation. However, much more is needed, such as practical skills and communication techniques, to ensure a student's capability of making a successful living and contributing to the whole society. A professor who has devoted most of his time to research, may not be suitable to teach such skills(改成teach the essential skills避免糊涂?). So, specified professors are needed. These professors, maybe not equipped with the top science knowledge, must have the ability to educate students to make them well prepared for future career and life.
Research improvement is also a necessity for a university to gain its prestige and better advancement. A university with no access to top science development will find it hard to be confirmed by the world. The access to top science development?(这个,文体里貌似不能用短语的吧,楼主改成句子好点) Yes, that is actually the role professors play. With professors of different areas devoting their time to science research to keep up with the pace of world science development, a university is able to obtain its prestige as one of the first-class universities. Furthermore, a university will find itself struggling with the funding problem if the research part is ignored. Without forefront research topics, it is almost impossible for the professors to apply for the government funding. Without enough funding, professors are less prone to afford advanced
instruments, which, in turn, contributes to the lack of research results. Finally professors will be embarrassed to be trapped in such vicious (vicious会不会太大?Awkward好点??)circle. As a result, very likely, the university's future is in danger.
However, we should not totally separate education from research. Students should have access to the forefront science advance, otherwise they will be confused when choosing an occupation. To provide them with the opportunity to see what is happening in the science world is a good way to help find their real interest and ignite their enthusiasm on a certain research area. This can be realized through lectures given by top researchers of the university. Students will learn a lot from such activities.
In a word, education and research is of equal importance to a university, and it should have separated professors on either part. This will help a university achieve its final value to the world.
楼主观点想的很丰富,但是不知道托福的文章可以写正反么?最好一边倒吧?不过小妹不知道可不可以想写GRE这样写,,呵呵~~改的不好请见谅哦 |
