101030NA Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People are now easier to become educated than in the past.
I agree with the argument that people tend to receive education easier.
What does the word "educated" actually means? There is no doubt that experiencing formal education counts, and thus people are enjoying a higher tendency to be educated nowadays. In fact, we are experiencing a period that "education" is no longer a priority for royal families or the rich. Instead, it has gradually become as common as bread and air.
First of all, the shortened gap between the rich and the poor contributes to the widespread of education. With more families being able to afford educational fees, more children are sent to schools, compared with a high level of illiteracy in the mid-century. More important, the overwhelm of education benefits the advancement of society from another perspective: more civilized citizens are devoting themselves into the construction of the cities, as well as the development of science and technology. These two aspects form a positive cycle to ensure that education is a prerequisite for a citizen to achieve success, and thus promoting the education.
In addition, the idea that all men are created equal also helps reducing the barriers of being educated forward today. Laws enacted according to that idea ensure that all citizens, despite their various nationalities, social levels and colors of their skins, should own the rights to be educated. For example, schools will be fined if found to refuse a child because of his skin color. Furthermore, with that idea experiencing a worldwide spread, developed countries are making efforts to support the education system of those developing countries, resulting in the rapid progress made in these regions.
What is more, the information technology has enabled us to receive education regardless of the place where we are living. With a computer that can get access to the Internet, a man in South Africa can now share a Harvard economic course with another student from China. The so-called "global village" has been eliminating the disparity in our backgrounds. Seeking hard for a school to attend, which is the common painful experience of our grandparents, has no longer existed. With the help of the Internet, together with the TV and mobile devices, we can even create a pure English environment for ourselves to learn English in our homes, which cannot be imagined before.
Conceded that children in poor countries are still suffering from war and poverty, solutions are being seeking to extricate them from danger and return them back to school. Great efforts have been made, and the fact cannot be denied that more and more children are going back to school today.
In conclusion, it is much easier to be educated today, as long as possessing a mind that is willing to study. |
