It is undeniable that occupation selection plays an increasingly significant part in one’s life, since this kind of choice definitely determine one’ fortune and future. Witnessing the remarkable prosperous in economy, a growing number of people are inclined to dedicate themselves to earning more money, instead of obtaining more social recognition. As a member of society, I strongly oppose this viewpoint that we ought to emphasize the spiritual possession with a high social status rather than material wealth. I will reason and provide cogent evidences to support my standpoint as follows.

The most persuasive point is that everyone in the society should shoulder their social responsibility and devote ourselves to the development of social and human civilization. No one could deny the basic fact that one will earn more social respect and stand in a higher social situation, if one sacrifices oneself for society. By the way of illustration, one needs to look no further than teacher. Nowadays, a growing number of outstanding graduate are willing to dedicate themselves to education enterprise, which is regarded as a grandeur construction of human souls, regardless of low waves. In a word, many occupations like teachers and judge won’t enrich our material possession, but they are conductive to acquire more social recognition and bring about far-reach impacts on our society as a whole.

What is also worth to point out is that material wealth seems not be able to provide us with a permanent sense of happiness. As the financial crisis bursting out, a large number of people tend to spare no effort to pursuit much more money, in fear of the danger of starvation and exposure. As a matter of fact, while we enjoy the comfort and banal luxury of our dwelling and expensive vacation, we do not realize that we are gradually deprived of the fundamental necessities of life, which is called happiness. A recent investigation shows that those citizens in middle classes possess a stronger sense of happiness than the upper class, such as millionaire. To sum up, those gold-plated occupation with high salary seems not be able to guarantee a permanent sense of happiness, while many low-wage jobs contrary lead us to be contented and delighted.

Take into account what I reason above, I firmly convinced that we should pay more consideration on social status and respect than earning money when concerning a job. A sagacious choice will naturally ensure us a brilliant future and a permanent sense of satisfy.

While the reading paragraph point out that science of archeology confronted with plenty of serious problems and limitations in the UK, the lecturer provided three aspects of the new guideline in today’s Britain, which are conductive to deal with those serious problems and limitations.

First of all, the lecturer claimed that the valuable artifacts will be certainly preserved by the new guideline since the interest and value of the site must be inspected by professional archeologists before construction. It is undeniable that this method will certainly protect the artifacts and provide enough valuable material and source to the discovery of local civilization.

Second, in order to solve the financial problem in the development of archeology, which is mentioned in the passage, the responsibility of supporting the development will be shifted from the government to professional companies. Hence the second problem highlighted in the passage would be naturally tackled with.

Thirdly, while the author maintained that the available job positions were never enough, the lecturer offered the key point to solve this problem; that is the new guideline will provide lots of well-paid jobs to the experts on archeology. What’s for, the full-time archeologists are required to investigate, do research, and write report, which will bring profound impacts on the development of archeological career.

There is an general controversy on the society over the phenomenon of the young people are inclined to follow their ambitious but nonrealistic dreams and goals, instead of striving for realistic goals and making progress step by step. From my perspective, as the new generation of the society, we are shouldering the responsibilities to develop our nations and promote the human civilization, so ambitious dreams and goals will be regarded as incentives encouraging us to strive and persist. Of the countless reasons and facts that strengthen my standpoint, I will present the most cogent and conspicuous ones here.

First of all, out of original interest and hobbies, those ambitious dreams, are able to motivate ones’ potential to greatest extent. As the old proverb goes, interest is the best teacher. Steve jobs use his own experience to explain the fact that one can eventually achieve him ambitious goals if he or she is absolutely fond of the career. Jobs quitted from Harvard to start his favorite career, computer design and no longer established the Apple Company. Thought this audacious behaviors criticized by the majority of teachers and students, history completely prove that jobs has made a miracle and ultimately achieve his long-range goals. From the example I presented above, it is fairly clear that those audacious target are likely to be accomplished due to the greatest potential arousing by interest.

What is also worth to highlight is that one with a realistic goal is easier to satisfy with status quo, which may hamper one’s improvement and finally become a mediocre person. Just take the effect “Win or Frog” for instance. Since the destination is easy to reach, one will definitely and easily content with reality, and stop striving for a long-rang target. Is it like being a frog being boiled in warm water gradually heated? As a consequence, the frog will be boiled alive finally since he never realizes the potential danger. Just imagine that if one always satisfies with the momentary success, he or she will ultimately be preyed by other competitors in the competitive society. To draw a conclusion, for people living in the Darwinism society, it is disastrous to focus on realistic goal and content with the short-period success.

Take into account what I mentioned above, keeping an ambitious goal and dream may directly arouse our greatest potential to accomplish our favorite career. On the contrary, contenting with the status quo may not only hamper our deeper development but also be weeded out in the competitive society.

综合写作
In the listening material, the professormade several points about the population of birds in the United States. Theprofessor argued that the population of native birds will not sharply decrease, but increase on the contrary. However, the reading material contends that thegrowth of human population and development of agriculture will do harm towildlife, especially birds. The professor’s lecture casted doubts on thereading passage by providing a number of points, which are contrary to thereading material.
Firstly, the habitats of birds will not be destroyedby citizens. According to the reading material, since more birds habitats gaveway to human construction, their natural habitats will be continue to disappear. However, the professor argued that people will provide more available and largerhabitats to birds in urban area, so there are will be more and more birdsliving in the city. This point directly contradict what the passage shows us.
Secondly, there will be less and less landusing for agriculture. The professor claimed that the new introduced cropsneeds less land than ever before, which would reduce the land used foragriculture. As a result, the habitatsof birds in rural area will not be destroyed. This point differs from thereading in that the reading states that the increasing agriculture activitiesin rural place will bring about disastrous impacts on birds
Thirdly, the professor stated that, on thecontrary to the reading passage, the pesticides will no longer do harm to birdsdue to the improvement of agriculture. First, new and less pesticide will bedeveloped. Second, a new crop, which is unattractive to pests, will becultivated. Those two points contradict what the reading passage indicates, becausethe passage claims that the use of chemical pesticides will do harm to birds.

Along with the globalization and ever-accelerated of mass transportation, a growing number of people have an inclination to immigrate to a new town even a new country. Nevertheless, a proportion of people object to those behaviors, since they firmly claim that frequently immigration will bring about negative impacts, which may hamper their relationship between friends and neighbors.
As for me, I strongly support this kind of immigration for the following reasons.

In the first place, it is widely acknowledged that we are able to connect with our friends wherever they are thanks to the extraordinary progress on the information technology. Nowadays, innumerous Instant Messengers such as QQ and MSN certainly guarantee us to chat with any friend at any place in the world, which can also strengthen our relationship between friends. Take myself as an example. One of my best friends, Irene, is studying aboard in the United States. Although we cannot meet each other as before, it is quite convenient for us to chat face to face by a smart camera. In a word, the long distance between friends has been vanished by the development of information technology.

Another aspect I would like to mention is that travel and immigration will force us to accept dramatically different culture, which will definitely broaden our horizons. No one can deny the basic fact that human civilization and culture naturally vary from region to region. As a consequence, immigrating to other countries, we will obtain various kinds of culture, language, and cuisine, which many assist us to handle other language and appreciate different splendid culture. For instance, if I get higher education in American, I will handle English as soon as possible as well as appreciating American native cuisine. To sum up, it will maximally expand our knowledge and information since immigrating to other regions.

Last but not the least, we may greatly enlarge our circle of friends and improve our interpersonal skills, when meeting with a large number of people in a new place. Just imagine that you immigrate to a new city and study at a new school. In order to adapt to the unfamiliar environment, you have to connect with strangers at first. Gradually, you will establish friendship with others and absolutely adapt to the new life. This process, to my point of view, is fairly meaningful and beneficial, which will force us to communicate with strangers and accommodate ourselves with disparate environment under cultural shock.

From what I have presented above, I firmly maintain that migrating to others country will not ruin our friendship. What’s more, it does good to broaden our horizons and improve our comprehensive skills.

In the listening material, the professor made several points about the methods to protect the Torreya presented in the reading passage. She argued that those methods are unlikely to address the decline of Torreya or will bring about negative effects. However, the reading material contends that 3 possible methods may preserve Torreya from extinction. The professor's lecture casted doubts on the passage by providing a number of evidences are contrary to the reading material.

First of all, the original location of Torreya is no longer suitable for them to inhabit. However, the reading material claims that the microclimate in Florida is still favorable for Torreya, since it is wetter and cooler. The professor held an opposite opinion that, due to global warming and the destruction of wetland, the microclimate have became more drier than before, which may hamper Torreya's growing.

Secondly, moving Torreya to a different location may brings about more unpredictable impacts. To illustrate this fact, he took another tree as an example, which was growing so quick after moving to different areas. As a result, the growing population hampers the native trees, some are endanger. This point differs from the reading passage in that passage states that relocating to different place do good to the Torreya.

Third, the professor stated that, on the contrary of the passage, preserving Torreya in research centers is ineffective. The reason explained by professor that, although Torreya will be saved in research center, the centers cannot keep Torreya’s large population in a long term. This still contradicts what the reading passage indicates, because the reading passage illustrates that it is easier to protect Torreya and do research on it.
