It is my pleasure to inform you that the department has reviewed your credentials and recommended you for admission to the Master’s in Telecommunications Program. This unique program offers students an opportunity to engage in cross-disciplinary coursework and allow them to enhance their knowledge and skills necessary to achieve success in the telecommunications industry. We invite you to learn more about the program by visitingwww.telecom.umd.edu and hope you will decide to join us for your graduate studies.
At the University of Maryland, the admission process ends with the Graduate School, which has final authority to grant admission. In order to complete the admission process and be issued immigration documents, international students must provide certification of finances. Please see below for more information regarding finances and send your documents as soon as possible if you have not already done so. Certification of Finances If you have not already submitted your Financial Certification, further action is required from you to receive admission from the Graduate School and an I-20. You must certify your finances by providing proof of liquid finances to cover one year's worth of tuition and living expenses. Only after you provide financial certification will you be issued an immigration document (I-20/DS-2019). Please seehttp://www.international.umd.edu/ies/97#finances for detailed instructions. After you have sent your financial documents, please notify us by email to telecomprogram@umd.edu. Expediting the Delivery of Immigration Documents
Students who are cleared for finances and formally admitted will have the option of expediting their I-20s using the E-Ship Global service. This service allows students to pay for express shipping for their immigration documents via DHL or FedEx. Students will receive information about this service by email within a few days of being formally admitted.
Test of English Proficiency
If your TOEFL or IELTS scores do not meet the minimum requirements, we highly recommend that you retake the exam before arriving on campus so that your provisional admission status can be removed. Otherwise you may have to take additional English language courses at your own expense. For more details, please see the Office of International Services website: http://www.international.umd.edu/ies/97.
Please refer to http://telecom.umd.edu/current/admissions for answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) or contact the ENTS Program Office at telecomprogram@umd.edu for further assistance. We wish you luck with the remainder of the admission process, and ask that you return the attached reply form to our Program Office by June 1. Please note that students may be asked to respond both to the Graduate School online and to the Program Office directly. See you next semester!
