The bar chart illustrates data about Japanese tourists travelling abroad from 1985 to 1995.And the line chart describes the proportion of Japanese tourists coming to Australia during this period.

As we can see from the bar chart, the number of Japanese tourists travelling abroad increased steadily between 1985 and 1995, with the exception of 1991, when the number experienced a slight declination compared with the last year. There was barely 5 million Japanese tourists travelling abroad in 1985. This number had been shooted up to almost 11 million by 1990. After that the number dropped slighty in 1991, but then increased to around 12 million in the next year. The number of Japanese tourists travelling abroad finally reached more than 15 million in 1995.

The Australia’s share of Japanese’s tourist market generally showed an upward trend, with occasional decline in 1989 and 1994 respectively. The proportion of Japanese tourists coming to Australia, had rised from zero to 2% by 1985, experienced a substantial increase from that point onwards and reached almost 5% by 1988. Australia’s share dipped slightly in 1989, and then resumed increasing from 1990 to 1993, peaked at around 6.1% in 1993. In 1994 the proportion of Japanese tourists coming to Australia dropped once again to 6%.

According to the chart, the number of Japanese tourists travelling abroad increased almost three times from 1985 to 1995, and Australia’s share of the Japanese tourist market experienced a similar upward trend. So such conclusion can be drawn from these charts that Australia was a stable destination for Japanese travelling abroad.
