题目：[1] Woven baskets characterized by a particular distinctive pattern have previously been found only in the immediate vicinity of the prehistoric village of Palea and therefore were believed to have been made only by the Palean people. Recently, however, archaeologists discovered such a "Palean" basket in Lithos, an ancient village across the Brim River from Palea. The Brim River is very deep and broad, and so the ancient Paleans could have crossed it only by boat, and no Palean boats have been found. Thus it follows that the so-called Palean baskets were not uniquely Palean.

It is seem logical, at first glance, to agree with the author that theso-called Palean baskets were not uniquely Palean because of a recentdiscovering that archaeologists discovered such a Palean basket in the Lithos,an ancient village across over the Brim River. In order to justify hisconclusion, the author provide clear evidence that the Brim River is deep andbroad, and so the ancient Palean could have crossed it only by boat, and onboats have been found. However, in order to fully evaluate this argument, weneed to have a significant amount of additional evidence.
     The first piece of evidence that we need in order to evaluate theauthor's claims is information about whether or not the boats that can acrossthe Brim River exist. The author concludes his assumption based on thecondition that no boat have been found. However it is not equal to that thePalean have on ability or skills to build boats. Perhaps the boats were builtand used at that time, and they were ruined before thousand years ago. In theother hands, there is also no evidence that people lived crossed the Brim River(the Lithos) have no ability or skills to build boats. Without these evidence,the author's assumption will be weaken for this argument.
     Another piece of evidence that might help us evaluate this claiminvolves the information whether or not the Brim River remains unchanged forpast the thousand years. According to the article the author claims that theBrim River is deep and board. However it is possible that the Brim River is lowand narrow at that time, or it is just a land linking the Palea and the Lithos.If we have the evidence that the Brim River remains the same for the thousandyears, and people who are willing to across the river must get the help ofboats or other things that can float on the water. The author's conclusion thatthe so-called Palean baskets were not uniquely Palean will be proved more strongly.
     In order to fully evidence this article, we would also need to learnabout the possibility that baskets found in the Lithos were took by the ancientmerchants(the people that go through villages to change goods with different).Just because of the unique of the Palean baskets, people live around thereliked it very. And the Palean may change the basket with other goods. For example,the Lithos is ample of apples. The Palean would change the apples with thebaskets. Without rolling out this possibility, we cannot conclude a completelyaccepting conclusion that the so-called Palean baskets were uniquely Palean.
     In sun, we need to have additional evidence in order to get a morecomplete understanding of the strengths and weakness of the author'sconclusion. We need to know whether or not the boats exist at that time, or theinformation the Palean or Lithos were or not able to build boats. We also haveto know about whether or not the Brim River remains unchanged for past thethousand years or the information about whether or not the business exist. Onlywith these evidence ,the author’s  assumption will be strengthen for theargument.
