The University of Missouri invites applications for several fully-funded PhD scholarships (tuition, insurance, and stipend) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering for fall 2022.
1. River dynamics
This research focuses on the turbulence in Missouri River and its impact on ecosystem and fishery management. The student is expected to conduct field observations using ADV and ADCP to measure turbulence in rivers and streams. Hydrodynamics modeling will also be used to understand the river dynamics.
2. Modeling and machine learning in hydrology
This research focuses on hydrological modeling of Missouri River basin and sub-basins. The student is expected to generate inundation map and to provide analysis using machine learning algorithms.
3. Computational Fluid Dynamics
CFD are used in several projects. A notable one is aerodynamics of seed falling in wind. The student is expected to conduct CFD modeling and analysis about the vortex structures and the drag on the falling seed.

利用水文建模和机器学习研究城市洪水。具体研究包括利用水文模型构建洪水地图(密苏里河)和使用机器学习方法研究水文数据。
3. 计算流体力学。
利用CFD方法研究流动和植物种子的相互作用。具体研究种子自由下落和横向风的阻力以及涡结构。有OpenFOAM经验的申请者优先。
