Do you agree with the viewpoint that people are now easier to become educated than in the past?

When it comes to the issue of whether today’s people are more convenient to get educated that in the past, some people may hold the opinion that in view of all sorts of temptations—such as KTV, bar, and so forth—of modern society, it's no doubt that people in the past are more accessible to education. Nonetheless, taking some dramatic factors into consideration, I am inclined to hold the position that the development of modern society helps modern people be easier to get educated than in the past. My inclination can be adequately justified by the subsequent discussion.

Admittedly, in some conditions, it may be convincing that although the development of modern science and technology is superior to the past, it was the lack of all sorts of temptations in the past that provided people with a better environment to get educated. Today, maybe asked to take part in a variety of birthday parties or playing computer games with friends, one always couldn't obviously focus his/her attention or energy on his/her educational affairs. Whereas in the past people could probably give priority to education, which is also the main reason why people in the past could get educated well.

However, other outstanding aspects of modern society play a pivotal role in affording people more opportunities to have access to education. With the advent of the Internet, it is convenient for people to acquire knowledge, which saves a wealth of time spent on seeking information and provides people with a better chance to get well-educated in a shorter time. Consider the ways of people to get information as an example. In the past, only not could people have to spend days in libraries searching for some information related to their subjects, but also a host of papers or energy had to be consumed to write down this information. In contrast, a computer, which almost has become an indispensable part of our life, is a positive alternative for storing information effectively gained from the Internet. Meanwhile, it is with the help of searching engine that it takes less time, maybe two or three seconds, for people to look for information they want. Obviously, people are now easier to get educated than in the past because of its convenience.

Besides, competition has been a main driving force behind the appetite for knowledge. Due to the ever-increasing pressure on the market-oriented trend of employment, possessing more skills and knowledge has been absorbed into the mainstream of the thought of modern people. The more skills and knowledge one has, the more opportunities he/she may be able to gain and choose. For instance, my brother Lille is an excellent senior student and immediately will face the arrival of employable pressure from dramatic competition. He even participates in many kinds of training schools, wishing to keep pace with or surpass the speed of development of society. Only when skills and knowledge he has acquired give him a strong competitive edge in the job market, could he slow down his pace of the appetite for knowledge and skills, and have a rest. Therefore, from this standpoint, there is nothing more beneficial than to acquire knowledge and skills in today's job market with fierce competition.

As a final analysis, admittedly, it is inevitable that there are some disadvantages of attaining opportunities of education in today; however, the advantages outweigh disadvantages with the consideration of the factors mentioned above. Therefore, I may safely come to the conclusion that getting educated is an easier thing compared to it is in the past.
