"Most people would agree that buildings represent a valuable record of any society's past, but controversy arises when old buildings stand on ground that modern planners feel could  be better used for modern purposes . In such situations , modern development should be given precedence over the preservation of historic buildings so that contemporary of historic buildings so that contemporary needs can be served .  "


With the development of modern civilization , some controversies have been arised between the preservation of old buildings and the seemingly more practical usage of the land those historical buildings stand . But should the preservation of old buildings give way to the process of satisfying contemporary needs ? The answer is no , without ant hesitation .

To most nations in the world , having certain old buildings which standing on a special position is not a strange thing , since those buildings could  record the nation's culture and represent the nation's history , either glorious or painful. So it is for sure that we modern people should give certain old buildings necessary protection . The Imperial Palace of Beijng , for example , has both historical and aesthetic value , which shows the unique culture of ancient China . Imaging one day , some planners say the Imperial Palace should be taken place by a highway , it can be no doubt  that no one in China would approve this proposal , although new highway would help to solve the traffic jam in that area around the Imperial Palace sited. But to inherit the culture and history of China is more important .  Keeping historic buildings ,say , the Imperial Palace , is just an effective way to achieve this purpose .

In another aspects , let us think clearly what contemporary needs are , which might be difficult to answer , for the conception itself is a not clear but vague one . People's requirement always  keeps pace with the development of economy and is marked by the contemporary , that means , what seems quite necessary today may be regarded as totally unnecessarily tomorrow .To say like that , because people's desire will never meet the end . Almost everyone would be glad if they were offered larger house , with a garden could be better . The residents living in huger and huger  but more and more crowded cities need more wider roads , adding packing spots , far larger living and working space , in a word , more space .All these cause the made of unwise decision to become possible .  Just as once people only cut down trees , destroyed forest , in order to get more farming land , so , now ,when human beings realize the importance of protecting forest , they have to plant trees to make forests on the farmland where was forest past , and this process would be a pain one . So when coming to the preserving of historic buildings , everyone should realize  that once the old building is raved , it can never be restored again , leaving maybe only endless regret later .  Since people have be teach so many lessons by their lack of wisdom decisions , shouldn't they think at a second thought  when they decide to kill the life of a historic building ?

What is more , the old buildings themselves also have economic value : they play an important role in the industry of tourism , which is especially true when the old ones are wholly enough . Zou zhuang , a little town  in south of China , whose old buildings is preserved as well and integrating as it used to be , is a case in point . Now , there are thousands of tourists coming from  almost every part of the earth  liking to visit it , that brings benefits to the residents of zou zhuang . Zou zhuang has become one of the richest town in China . All the residents of zou zhuang are willing to preserve the historic buildings in their town now , but which was quite a different story  several years ago when the preservation was just began and seemed  controvert with the needs of local people . The booming of zou zhuang shows again that people had better consider the benefits and needs in the long run , instead of just being trapped in the range of  quite limited present" .

When suggesting preservation of historic buildings , that is not to say no old ones could be raved , but to say , before such kind of decisions is made , the planners should try one’s ability to take  every aspect into consideration , in order to avoid sacrificing the long-term benefit to the so-called contemporary needs . To keep the balance between the preservation of old buildings , which represents our past ,our culture , our civilization , and the needs of modern society  , which faces our present , is not an easy thing . But they added together concerned with our future , so it is better for human beings to search for the balance point yet it is an acid task .

In any way , preservation of old buildings is an important and worthwhile cause in most of the case and should not be taken place by satisfying contemporary needs .

这一段实在是太长了,看到后来感觉很绕.说一个问题把它讲清楚就行了.,更重要的是,这一段的理由太牵强了,花这么多篇幅写这个有点篇
