所以第一个空是填与modern的tradegyd对立的另外一种特征
modern tragedy的特征是 austere和 stripped down (这里的意思是毫无修饰，artless)
这里只有multifaceted与 austere对立

第二个空是在解释 austere和stripped down这种特征，with nothing ____ to erode. 只有extrangeous符合句意， with nothing more to strip. 也就是 couldn't be more austere.

第二题 where it counts的意思就是这里的

as the result of some spurious advantage

当winner用一些不正当手段获得优势以后他们是Inferior

第一题终于看懂了。

第三题第一空那个词是soporific不是sporadic，按照你的解释可以认为soporific是tedious的近义，这样解释就通了。我之前把render理解成“提出”，怎么都想不明白。谢了！
