Recently, there is a heated discussion about which would be placed in the first place among pursuing the intellectual interests for purely personal reasons and trying to act for the public good. As we know, different people hold different opinions according to their perspectives on the relationship between the both. In my view, the pursuit of personal intellectual interest is more important and should be placed in the first place. The reasons will be presented in the following writing.

First of all, maybe in the past, our world is in an underdeveloped state, our nations always call the residents for acting public good. In that era, many respectful heroes have emerged and made a great contribution to our world such as Lei Feng in China. But these day, it is not wise for our nation to overemphasize that view of acting for public, because nowadays, we have entered into a new age characteristic of its perfect constitution which give more attention and protection to develop or pursue personal intellectual interests. For example, In U,S,A, its constitution are well presented and especially punctuate the personal development, such as protecting the individual right to study or not study, and the freedom to choose the school and what people want to study if he of she wants to study, and ensuring that you are in the center place and totally dominate your own affairs during the pursuit of intellectual interests. Except USA, there are other example including England, Germany, and other developed countries. From this, it is easy for us to find out that why in the recent years these countries have become the most popular studying places for the students from all over the world. The reason is that they offer more freedom and punctuation to personal intellectual pursuit.     

In addition, if always overemphasizing that people should act for public goods, it will result bad effects. As we know, sometimes, the public goods contradict with personal interests. If we always choose the pubic good when facing it, it is possible that you will lost your own interests and bring other negative effects except benefits for others. In order to make an apprehension of what this mean, we can take a concrete example. China, before long, canceled the content written in the institutions for regulating primary and secondary students’ behaviors that students should strive to struggle with bad man and save people in danger without any consideration to their own lives, all of which were regarded as important factors to showing students’ acting for public goods. As the students especially in primary school or secondary school are poor in physics compared to adults, if we overemphasize their brave actions for public good, the worst effect is that they maybe lost their lives and bring great sorrow to their parents and the public, as well as that nation will lose a potential power for development. Therefore, protection of people’s freedom to pursue their intellectual interests is more important than overemphasizing their action for public goods.

To sum up, based on the explanation formulated above, the statement that personal intellectual pursuit is more important than acting for public is worthy of trust. With the development of the social civilization, the statement will be rooted in people’s hearts and minds, and under the protection of public goods primarily done by the nation, we should do our utmost do develop ourselves fully.

As we know, different people hold different opinions according to their perspectives on the relationship between the both. In my view, the pursuit of personal intellectual interest is more important and should be placed in the first place. The reasons will be presented in the following writing (as the following).
First of all, maybe in the past, (when the world was in an developing state) our world is in an underdeveloped state, our nations always call the residents for acting public good (call for the residents to do good to the public). In that era, many respectful heroes have emerged and made a great contribution to our world such as Lei Feng in China.
