Issue 1
"We can learn much more from people whose views we share than from people whose views contradict our own; disagreement can cause stress and inhibit learning."

Is it reasonable to decide we can learn much more from which kind of people, who share our views or who contradict our views, before any meaningful assumption is given? The speaker, more out of sensation than of sense, I'm afraid, prefers the former with a pretext that "disagreement can cause stress and inhibit learning".  In my opinion, however, view opponents are as helpful as, if not more beneficial than, view supporters as long as the debate on the view is based on reasoning and fact.

Deducing from the speaker's excuse, I can see he or she would consider feelings and emotions as key factors in learning. It is true that agreement usually approbates and thus encourages one's trial in thinking. A good teacher is fully aware of the importance of such approbation by which a student's interest in and creativity of study can be fostered. And sharing ideas with those who agree with you can make the exchange on a subject friendly and smooth. In this sense, learning with people in common views will be a good choice, if you care about your feelings like self-confidence very much other than the truth you are searching, which often happens especially at the beginning of a study.

But what on earth can you learn FROM such people who you are learning WITH? If you keep being agreed with, what new ideas can occur to you? And if you are actually on a wrong way, who, of these your companions, can call you back to the right? Aside from sensation, it is knowledge that should be the center of learning. Unless you have given up your further study, you will need some different voices to lead you into a new area and thus give you an open scope.

To benefit from opposite views, you have to be able to tell which of them make sense or adduce some facts that you don't know. If someone attacks your opinion only by unreasonable eloquence, don't waste your time to quarrel. Those who are worth debating with are those who focus on the topic and who keep the arguments targeting it. In other words, you can learn from this kind of people who are in the same or concentric orbit with yours around the identical subject but just in different positions.  I mean, if you were on their standpoints, you would probably see what they see and believe what they believe, with your own reasoning and judgment, though.

In our daily life, there are a lot of misunderstandings out of separation between different groups of view holders. An adolescent naturally loves sharing with his mates while ignores wise advice from his parents. Ironically, many times when they discover some truth after trials and frustrations, they suddenly remember hearing that from the elders long before. And on the other side, adults often decline to appreciate ideas of the youth. They talk with each other but still can't understand their kids. In this way so-called generation gaps are built and maintained. A few successful families, however, manage to make a bridge connecting parents and children. They listen to each other's voice and think. They welcome debates, some very heated, out of which they try to learn something worth the debates.

Freedom of speech, another example at the social level, is a primary success of democracy's. It propels the society greatly, mainly because it protects and therefore promotes exchanges between different values, views and ideas. It clearly proves that learning from those who don't agree with you is no less than from those who agree.

我的意思是如同a friend of his一般的结构。

"We can learn much more from people whose views we share than from people whose views contradict our own; disagreement can cause stress and inhibit learning."

Is it reasonable to decide we can learn much more from which kind of people, who share our views or who contradict our views, before any meaningful assumption is given? The speaker, more out of sensation than of sense, I'm afraid, prefers the former with a pretext that "disagreement can cause stress and inhibit learning". In my opinion, however, view opponents are as helpful as, if not more beneficial than, view supporters as long as the debate on the view is based on reasoning and fact.

从后面看你的论点是learn more from people whose views contradict our own,但你开头的论点我觉得说的有些模糊。

Deducing from the speaker's excuse, I can see he or she would consider feelings and emotions as key factors in learning. It is true that agreement usually approbates and thus encourages one's trial in thinking. A good teacher is fully aware of the importance of such approbation by which a student's interest in and creativity of study can be fostered.(这里的approbation 和 agreement其实不通。 And sharing ideas with those who agree with you can make the exchange on a subject friendly and smooth. In this sense, learning with people in common views will be a good choice, if you care about your feelings like self-confidence very much other than the truth you are searching,(这句话总觉得不很舒服。 which often happens especially at the beginning of a study.

But what on earth can you learn FROM such people who you are learning WITH?(who you are learning WITH?总觉着有些多余) If you(第二人称还是少用) keep being agreed with, what new ideas can occur to you? And if you are actually on a wrong way, who, of these your companions, can call you back to the right?(这种情况好像应该归为all people hold the same idea without careful thinking)Aside from sensation, it is knowledge that should be the center of learning. Unless you have given up your further study, you will need some different voices to lead you into a new area and thus give you an open scope.

把learn from people whose views we share 和learn from people whose views contradict our own的原因归结为sensation he knowledge 似乎不妥
