我试着读了一些英文原著，可是有好多单词都不认识，要一个个查吗？应该怎样阅读比较好？

Well, it's a common thing that most of the readers met when they began to touch the English original works.
In my opinion, it is not necessary for u to look up all the words in a dictionary, some of them u can understand through the lines, and if u r interested in some key words, the I suggest u could look up in the dictionary.

About the reading practice, I think the English newspapers and some of the movies(English) may be useful.
When u read a English newspaper, the first time u should skim over, during this period, u can peruse some of the sentences and the words which u r really interestedin. This is the purpose that u read English materials for practice.

In a word, the more u read, the more feelings of English u could get and the more ur English will be improved.

i add some of mine:

When you find the book had the new words more than 20 percent, your read speed was greatly slowed by the words. The best way is to give up this book unless you have enough energy and time. Or it will bore you and kill your intreset in English.

So you choose the one which you can read with some troubles which need you to look up your dictionary occasionally.
You can skip some of them, just as we first learn to read chinese.You choose this materials as the extensive reading.

At the same time, you had to pick up some  proper materials as your intensive reading. I recommand some good textbooks such as New Concept , College English and so on. You had to read it clearly and recite some of them.

I find my reading materials by Internet. I input some words or some thing i am interested into the searching column to search the websites i preferred. I often run my translation dictionary at the same time. I find it is easy to read the websites with the help of the e-dictionary.

All in all. Practice makes perfect.

Thanks for all of you advices.
Just as you say, A book with many new words is really boring. But I still have the ambition to read a whole book. and I have chosen "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" as my first reading material, for I think it would be easier. I once heard that while reading a book, if you can endure and insist during the first Chapter, it will be much easier during the next chapters, is that really so? and, i'm eager to know, will I get any real improvement in English after reading some books?
another question, what should I do with the "key words"which I have looked up in the dictionary, should I recite them all, or, I think I'll unable to recall them after a period of time.

Roma, at first , I recommend you read some interesting books such as Harry Botter . I believe the fantastic  magic will urge you to overcome boring words:D:D

just read through and read again,then read once again...this is my suggestion :)

ignore and neglect all new words..just image and try to guess what's meaning....

if possible , mark them out ,when you read the book another time, guess again ,,,,if still failed ,then to check them in dictionary

well, in fact, I  think the question you asked for advice is something weird. Whether you will get improvement or not depends on many factors. Your atitude, the books you chose, etc. Yet, generally, I believe that you will get improvement more or less, if you really put your words into action. At least, you have read considerable valuable books, huh? : )

It's up to you.
If you meet them many times and still do not know their meanings, I guess, I will look up the dictionary then.

to read english version book, I give you some advises listed on the below:
first, you need a real e-e dictionary, not electronic dictionary or e-c dictionary. just english definition can help you understand english words efficiently.
second, I think you'd better not to look up a new word just at the moment when you see it firstly. You can guess its means through ur ideas about this sentence, or paragraph, then confirm it through e-e dictionary.
third, I suggest you dont write down the newwords' definition on your book. I think you just need mark these words by some special signs. this means u must search its means in your memory when you see it next time.
at last, I think this point is very important to whether this way, reading english books, is really effcient or not. u must select a book fit for your english level. If you can find above 30% newwords in one page, I suggest u change it.

First i admire your perseverance, it is improtant in successing something.

"The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" i did not read this work, so i cannot make my judgement on it. i am sorry.

Well, the boy:

I believed that u have understood that in some degrees.

But I think, we should not usually go to extremes when we face things.

All in all is one sentence:
the more u practise, the more you gain whatever which method u choose.
Of course, an ideal and easy way is the best!

About the book: Tom...
I've read some chapters of it, for me, it's not so difficult that I think it is one of your choices as the beginning.

But don't put so much time and energy on the exact word meaning, reciting everything doesn't equal to the improvement of you English level. What u should focus on more is the content and the nice sentences,do u know what I mean??I hope you could do something to train your feeling of English--the language.
