Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In regard to whether the appealing image is more important than the reality and truth, I hold a conservative view. The image may be a central concern, especially in a short-term purpose. Nevertheless, it is undeniable that in the long term, the truth behind the image will be the dominant fact.

It is true that in some situations, first impression plays the monitoring role. For instance, as the aim of the advertisement is to appeal to potential customers, it will possibly be alluringly designed, even exaggerating the benefits of the product sometimes, while concealing the disadvantages. The increasing importance of image is also evident in dating and interviews. When dating with someone, you will make the greatest effort to make him/her believe that you are loyal and reliable. As a result, you will present your best image. Analogously, everyone wants to leave the interviewer with the impression of being responsible, careful, innovative and capable of doing the job well. Consequently, during the interview, it is essential to display the most advantageous competence.

However, under some other circumstances, the reality or truth may outweigh the instant image. As has been mentioned above, presenting an attracting advertisement is a good way to gain attention. But when it comes to the final purchase of the customer, the authenticity of the advertisement, as well as the quality of the product will be a great concern. Likewise, whether you will live a happy life with your husband/wife, or whether you will be permanently appreciated by your manager, is ultimately determined by your true personality, quality and ability. The first good impression may last for a week or a month, but it won’t be effective forever.

Considering the instances put forward above, we can arrive at the point that the appealing image is important, especially for persuasive purposes and in a short term. Nevertheless, if we want an advantageous conception to last for a long time, what really matters is still the truth and reality behind the certain image.
