Chicago Law - Information for Applicants to the 14-15 LL.M. Program

As many of you know, our application deadline was December 15 and then we extended it to December 18. The initial processing of all our applications is complete and as of this moment we have 906 applications. That is about 4% less than the number of applications we had last year at this time. We have 79 countries represented in our applicant pool. We will receive a few more applications over the next month.
We currently have 696 completed applications and have already reviewed about 180 of them. This means that our Graduate Studies Committee has plenty of work still to do. Our current students went off on holiday/vacation wishing us a nice vacation but for those of us who read your applications this is the busiest time of the year for the admissions process.

当中还列举了一些他们工作中碰到的事情，当然我觉得他们说话挺实在的：

Applicants sometime tell us how much they want to attend Chicago. The phrase that is often used is that Chicago in “my dream school” or something similar. I think such an approach may be a cultural norm in some countries. I appreciate the effort to convey passion about attending Chicago, but it is not necessary. We assume that most of our applicants have strong interest in attending the Law School. Otherwise, they probably would not have applied in the first place. We also understand that most applicants know to apply to several schools beside Chicago, given the competition for admission here and elsewhere. Our Graduate Studies Committee realizes that it is impossible to differentiate applicants on their stated desire to be admitted so that is not something that is generally considered in the admissions process.

我在写personal statement 过程中，就有人告诉我用不着写某个学校多好多好多想多想去。
