Why do you think people attend college or university?
Compared with the education that we received at high school,college education differs mainly in the aspect that it equips us with knowledge and skills that are of great necessity to our future occupations. When graduated from high school,most of the students are still green hands in the modern society since the knowledge and theories that they have learned at high school are not applicable for real occupations. So in order to make themselves fully prepared for their jobs, most people attend college after graduation from high school.
First and foremost, with thousands of different kinds of courses and enormous study sources, college provides students with the chance to find out which academic field they feel interested in and what kind of job they would like to take in the future, which is the first step of career preparation.
Once they figure out where their interests and passion lie in, students will have to acquire adequate knowledge accordingly and cultivate sufficient qualities if they are to succeed in their future career. For example, the ability to learn independently and continuesly is one of those important qualities. And college is the ideal place where students are trained to learn by themselves. Through various tasks and programs assigned by professors, students can progressively gain the ability to carry out projects that they are not formerly familiar with. Outside of the class, college also provides different platforms where students can show their own unique talents. For example, you can make yourself a confident and eloquent speaker by being a member of the school debate team. By joining the student association and running for leader of a department, you will surely enhance your leadership and team consciousness.
In conclusion, college is the ideal place where people grow from immature teenagers to professionals in different areas. So with the aim of achieving a successful career, most people choose to receive college education.
