两道答案都是D
但为什么我感觉futile...clandestine更加贴切呢  求大神指点

不知筒子是如何理解的？fund-raising的偷偷摸摸与否，和futile有什么联系？因为市长的集资委员会行动很apathetic，所以与市长ambivalent或者不想再参选的声明相对应。不懂再问，加油!

能不能是senator表面上convince the public that he is not interested in running for a second term  背地里却clandestine fund-raising 所以the attempt is futile

首先前半句是讲市长而后半句是集资委员会，按筒子你的看法偷偷摸摸就是要不然人知道啊，那如果市长真想参选的话，就达到目的了，为什么是futile？
