19) Two years ago, radio station WCQP in Rockville decided to increase the number of call-in advice programs that it broadcast; since that time, its share of the radio audience in the Rockville listening area has increased significantly. Given WCQP's recent success with call-in advice programming, and citing a nationwide survey indicating that many radio listeners are quite interested in such programs, the station manager of KICK in Medway recommends that KICK include more call-in advice programs in an attempt to gain a larger audience share in its listening area.
Write a response in which you discuss what questions would need to be answered in order to decide whether the recommendation and the argument on which it is based are reasonable. Be sure to explain how the answers to these questions would help to evaluate the recommendation.

一、        分析题目中的Argument,列出claim、data并解释连接claim和data的warrant。
Claim:
The station manager of KICK in Medway recommends that KICK include more call-in advice programs.
Data:
(1)        Two years ago, radio station WCQP in Rockville decided to increase the number of call-in advice programs that it broadcast’
(2)        Since that time, WCQP’s share of the radio audience in the Rockville listening area has increased significantly.
(3)        A nationwide survey indicated that many radio listeners are quite interested in such programs.
Warrant:
(1)        两年前,WCQP增加了call-in advice programs,并且从那以后市场份额增加,那么增加了call-in advice programs则是导致市场份额增加的原因;
(2)        全国调查说明观众喜欢call-in advice programs,因此如果KICK增加call-in advice programs,观众数会增加;
(3)        WCQP的经历和全国调查的结果对KICK所在地具有借鉴意义,因此为了获得更多市场份额,KICK应该增加call-in advice programs。

二、根据题目的要求列出提纲以及描述要讨论的主要内容。
思路:我分别从WQCP的改革、市场份额改变、全国调查三个方面,对WQCP改革细节、Rockville人口变动、调查权威性进行质疑。
(Thesis statement)If the recommendation is to be accepted, three questions about the detailed change of radio station WCQP’s broadcast schedule, the change of population in Rockville during the two years, and the nationwide survey are still in desperate need to be answered.
(TS1) First of all, the details of the change in radio station WCQP’s broadcast schedule are needed to be provided, in order to judge what influence the addition of call-in advice programs has made compared to other changes. For example, if the radio station WCQP increased the number of call-in advice programs while decreased the number of other boring programs such as advertising, the deletion of other programs might be the reason why its share of the radio audience has increased. It is also possible that there was some other programs, which was added into the schedule together with call-in advice programs, attracted the audience.
(TS2) What is more, the question that how population changed in Rockville during the two years remains to be answered. If one of WCQP’s programs attracts a specific group of people, and many people of the specific group migrated to Rockville in the last two years, then the WCQP’s increasing share of the radio audience in the Rockville listening area is not connected with the addition of call-in advice programs. For instance, if a new university was built in Rockville two years ago and many students has come to study, the learning programs of WCQP might have attracted more audience, which lead to the increase of its share of radio audience in the Rockville.
(TS3) The last but not the least, the question about the details of nationwide survey needs to be answered. There is possibility that the survey asked people to choose the more interesting one between call-in advice program and advertising program. If more people chose the call-in advice program, the conclusion that many radio listeners are quite interested in such programs was drawn. It is transparently clear that the conclusion drawn in this way is not convincing, so that more details about how the survey was done are of great significance.

Warrant:
(1)        两年前,WCQP增加了call-in advice programs,并且从那以后市场份额增加,那么增加了call-in advice programs则是导致市场份额增加的原因;
(2)        全国调查说明观众喜欢call-in advice programs,因此如果KICK增加call-in advice programs,观众数会增加;

二、根据题目的要求列出提纲以及描述要讨论的主要内容。
思路:我分别从WQCP的改革、市场份额改变、全国调查三个方面,对WQCP改革细节、Rockville人口变动、调查权威性进行质疑。

in desperate need  这个表达好夸张:O  整个TS平行结构不错写得不错 内容看后面的点评  


(TS1) First of all, the details of the change in radio station WCQP’s broadcast schedule are needed to be provided, in order to judge what influence the addition of call-in advice programs has made compared to other changes. For example, if the radio station WCQP increased the number of call-in advice programs while decreased the number of other boring programs such as advertising, the deletion of other programs might be the reason why its share of the radio audience has increased. It is also possible that there was some other programs, which was added into the schedule together with call-in advice programs, attracted the audience.

我觉得你这里说得有点隐晦,不如直接说We need to ask if the introduction of the call-in advice program is the direct cause of the increase of listeners in WCQP
后面几个可能导致听众增加的因素都可以 写的时候不用掺合call-in program进去


(TS2) What is more, the question that how population changed in Rockville during the two years remains to be answered. If one of WCQP’s programs attracts a specific group of people, and many people of the specific group migrated to Rockville in the last two years, then the WCQP’s increasing share of the radio audience in the Rockville listening area is not connected with the addition of call-in advice programs. For instance, if a new university was built in Rockville two years ago and many students has come to study, the learning programs of WCQP might have attracted more audience, which lead to the increase of its share of radio audience in the Rockville.

the question about好像好些
我觉得这里的重点不应该是Rockville的人口变化 因为KICK在Medway 而你整段不提KICK 会脱离这道题的主旨 评估关于KICK的建议




(TS3) The last but not the least, the question about the details of nationwide survey needs to be answered. There is possibility that the survey asked people to choose the more interesting one between call-in advice program and advertising program. If more people chose the call-in advice program, the conclusion that many radio listeners are quite interested in such programs was drawn. It is transparently clear that the conclusion drawn in this way is not convincing, so that more details about how the survey was done are of great significance.

其实这里的重点是national survey对象与KICK听众群的相似性 如果人口结构不一样 national survey的结果就不是用于KICK的听众了 另外 survey里表示有兴趣不代表一定会去听嘛 还取决于时间段是否有空 以及有没有更有趣的节目


另外Be sure to explain how the answers to these questions would help to evaluate the recommendation.这个题目要求一定要记得不断的回应
