In any situation, progress requires discussion among people who have contrasting points of vies
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take, In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.

Whether contrasting points of views will benefit progress is never have a definite answer. In some fields,without any doubts, it will, but in other fields it won’t. Meanwhile, the answer also depend on our attitude to those contrasting opinions.

We all know that we are not a sage.We can’t take every considerations into account to shape our opinions, thus there are more or less some mistakes in our ideals.And most time, we can’t realize them easily. But, by discuss with someone whose opinion is on the opposite side to ours will figure these errors out timely. Due to they think the problem from the angle we didn’t , they can provide some knowledge to complement ours. As a consequence, the ideal will cover as many aspects as it can. Like the leader system of the America, we all know that there are to party---Republicans and Democrats. They stand for two different group of Americans. Before every enactment of a new law, they will discuss its viability. After an intense discuss, they will revise the law to meet both demands of two party.

Nevertheless, not in every fields, contrasting opinions will play an important role as we expected.For example, in art field, we make an art work by our inspiration. It is the critical part of a work. Usually, the inspiration is unique and others can’t feel it at the same way as we do. The presence of contrasting opinions would only destroy our original thought and bring their thought into ours . That’s  why Van Gogh would lived a suffer life than accommodate public tease. Thanks for van gogh didn’t let those contrasting opinions influence him, otherwise won’t have a chance to appreciate those wonderful works,such as Starry night or Sunflower.

Even if in those fields which contrasting opinions are good to our progress , it is still depend on how we treat them. As we know, people prefer flatters than scours, sometimes the first reaction when we heard someone say we are wrong is that these words are partial and they say it only because they envy our achievement and say it to disdain us. Thus we will try our best to argue with them without thinking whether they are right.

All in all, contrasting opinions don’t mean progress all the time. In some fields, we do need contrasting opinions to board our mind and make our ideal more valid than we think it all by ourselves, but in other fields,like art , literary creation and so forth, contrasting opinions often confuse our original thought. Besides, the attitude that we treat those opinions might also dispensable. Only if we embrace those contrasting opinions and let them to help us to sharp our ideals more all-round
