求问有没有人读过Josh Angrist和Jörn-Steffen Pischke的这本新书 Mastering 'Metrics (Amazon link)? 和mostly harmless比会不会太幼稚了之类？还是说讲直觉很不错或者更适合入门读？

其实我觉得还是slide最快。。。国外的教科书都太啰嗦了，我想不通的地方都在两页之后。相比slide短平快啪啪啪把技术全学会了。MHE和这本书比较适合懂完技术之后回头一目十行地翻~

谢谢前辈指点！能不能多问前辈一下有没有对公开的但是又教得比较rigorous的slides/notes推荐？我对这里本地比较熟。前辈会不会觉得这份SMU的PhD第一门计量偏简单（比如相比EME或者其他programme而言）？还是说UBC的这个Econ527会比SMU的会要更好些？[我感觉UBC的好像更好些] 先谢谢花时间指导！十分感激！

MHE主要是讲applied metrics啊，就是identification这些的。你这里举的例子都有点偏理论计量，就是证asymptotic normality这些的。当然，基本的理论（像MLE,GMM这些的推导）对理解MHE还是颇有帮助的（但不是必须的）。和MHE比较近的课程应该基本叫做“empirical method”之类的吧

啊我们可能误会了！因为你之前说建议先通过slides/notes把技术基础打好，所以我以为是说先把理论基础做好，所以想问这些基础够不够？还是说可以直接看applied econometrics的技术性notes比如说warwick的这个？

还是说identification在应用上概念的那些技术比说说这份lecture notes on identification strategies或者Duflo这种基础和warwick类似的？

哦哦其实理论不是特别重要。。除非你真的想弄清楚nonparametric RDD的asymptomatic behaviour （我不知道有没有这个东西。。。）

我的意思是通过applied metrics的slide快速的掌握这几种strategy的技术要点：identification assumption，results，pros&cons, etc。然后辅以MHE，各种applied和methodology的paper（Heckman，imbens等是大户~）来理解现实中是怎么用的，最前沿对pro&con有什么讨论。

好的好的！理解了！多谢前辈指点！觉得很有收益 [我自己做RA帮忙纯理论模型的多, empirical的少而且就是到处搜集/键入各种数据啥的 所以这方面真的很弱]~  所以是不是也可以多看下各个field的handbook对empirical strategies的讨论比如说angrist和krueger早年写的这份labour handbook的empirical strategies？再次感谢！获益良多！

我RA的内容跟你一样啊。。。毕竟核心的identification strategy不大可能给一个RA来弄吧？具体到labour的我就不大清楚了，不做这个方向。不过strategy是通用的，其他领域应该都ok
