Issue 30. Teachers' salaries should be based on their students' academic performance.

Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position.

思路:借鉴Issue45的分类方法,按照小学不适用,高中使用,大学不适用的顺序写。在大学这段提到了most compelling reasons or examples
         谷歌了一下academic performance这个关键概念,我怀疑把它等同于分数或者成绩有点狭隘,不知这样算不算概念定义偏颇呢?但是定义为成绩确实方便论证的说

主旨:It is true that students’ academic performance is an important indicator of teachers’ teaching ability. This statement does not imply that a performance-based pay system can be applied to every educational institute since objectives varies at different levels. The policy may work well in high school while turn out to be bootless or even detrimental in primary school and college.教师薪水是否应该与学生成绩挂钩取决于不同教育阶段,因为不同阶段的教育重点不同。它适用于中学,但不适用小学、大学。

TS1 Primary school education mainly aims to explore students’ potentials instead of academic performance. If teachers are under economic pressure to make the class compete for high grades, it is prone to restrict the development of pupils’ creativity and imagination.小学教育重视开发孩子创造力想象力等,学生的成绩并不是重点。挂钩会加大学生的应试压力,限制了潜能开发。Eg中国传统应试教育下的小学生在老师的压力下死记硬背,而丧失了多角度思考创造的能力。

TS2 As for high school where knowledge and skills are highly valued, economic incentive helps to create a vituous circle in which teachers are stimulated to work harder and thus further improve students' academic achievement as a result.高中学生成绩是教师教学水平的反映。工资基于学生成绩有利于激励教师教学更加认真,探索更有效的教学方法,有助于提升教师教学水平,反过来又有助于提高学生的学业水平,由此形成良性循环。

TS3 However, it is not the case in college. One may argue that performance-based payment can be a solution to a pervasive problem that many university professors focus too much on their research projects and pays  incommensurate attention to teaching. Eg一些美国常春藤名校的大学生抱怨原以为在名校能得到名师指点,但很多教授忙于科研,都是助教上课。但是,需要注意的是大学里教授不再只关注上课,大学生也一样。学术表现不再是大学生唯一的重心,许多大学生把大部分时间和经历放在社团、学生组织、实习、志愿项目等课外活动上。即便教师在工资驱使下加强教学工作,学生也不一定会更重视学习,反驳提出的问题也不能解决。况且,如果教授上课认真有效但学生学习不认真导致成绩平平,那么成绩就不能反映教师教学水平,成绩和教师工资挂钩对老师不合理也不公平。
