The appointee will oversee the day-to-day operations of an R&D project, involving researchers from HKUST and MIT as well as industry partners, on developing a next-generation personalized e-learning platform.  Main duties include acting as the software architect for the platform; supervising project team members in developing different subsystems; managing the project according to the approved schedule; coordinating with MIT collaborators to ensure smooth integration of different software components and traveling to MIT for project meetings; and interacting with industry partners to collect user requirements, conduct pilot testing, and facilitate technology transfer.

Applicants should have at least a master’s degree in computer science or related disciplines with at least 5 years of industrial experience, preferably in a R&D environment, which includes project management experience for at least 2 years.  Familiarity with industrial-strength software development; strong interpersonal and communication skills and a good command of written and spoken English are required.  Prior experience in patent application is an advantage.
