Admittedly, imagination is so crucial that it can contribute to explore unknown filed for us. However, we can’t ignore the importance of experience, which always provides valuable instruction to us.

我使用框架2,从不同角度来论述。People, government, company. Three factors which would influence a society. Only in the major cities, where resided more people, grouped more companies, can we see the governments’ will or the development tendency of the whole society.
When we want to understand the most important characteristics a society, what should we do? In my opinion, studying its major cities is a good method. Why saying that?  I believe three factors can influence a society. They are people, company and government. A society is composed by people. The most characteristics of a society can be reflected by the relationship of its people, the organization in the society and the value of it. Only in the major cities, where resided diverse people, grouped large companies, where governments can influence the value of the society to a large extent, it can reflect the most important characteristics of a society. Why studying the major cities not the minor cities or through other methods to understand that?

Pt1: The most important components of a society are people. They compose a society, and decide the characteristics of a society. The major cities which have more resources attract more people to work there, live there who come from different classes, doing different jobs.
When we want to understand the USA, we must study New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Houston and so on. If not, just small towns or counties can not cover the whole society of a country.
Example: contrast big city such as NY with small town such as Santa Monica from the number, diversity and value of people


Pt2: Efficiency is an important characteristic of a society. When we evaluate the efficiency of a society, studying that of a large company is a good choice.
Example: in major cities of china, where more and more new technology companies emerged and developed well. People can get out without money but just with a mobile phone. people want to live a more convenient life, they want to use one tool to solve all the problems they face everyday.


Pt3: Government plays an important role in a society. It dominates the main value of a society. Only by studying the major cities, can we clearly understand the governments’ will which to a certain extent, the society’s will which determine most of its important characteristics.
Example: the house price in major cities in China which can reflect the structure of a society’s economy. Government’s role in the change of the house price from which we can see the value of a society.

我选择使用老师的辅助思路，看了一下这些例子太好了，希望使用一遍来加强记忆。

TS: Both imagination and experience are important ingredients for success in different undertakings or projects.  I believe that imagination is more valuable at the early stages of the projects when the novelty of the ideas is crucial. At later stages, however, the implementation of the ideas and the management of the projects would require the team members to have experience in different areas.  I would illustrate my point with the stories of Google, Wikipedia and Alibaba.   （老师的）

TS: It's hard to tell apart the imagination or experience from the success of undertakings or projects. That means, they both play indispensible roles in the process. At first, the imagination is more important since we initiate a ground which no one has dabblled in. But as time going, the experience will dominant guiding us to finish the project. Based on that, I would show you through the stories of Google, Wikipedia and Alibaba.

When starting an organization, imagination is the primary significant asset to break ground. All great successful companies began with an imaginative novel idea even though sometimes seems insane. Google started ranking web pages based on the number of back links, and soon later, it became the number one country in searching engines. While others still focus on how to get the exact answers, Wikipedia created the good thought allowing everyone to edit an online encyclopedia. In the similar way, Taobao find the new ground through serving as a middleman for online transaction. All three of them succeeded depending on start a new frontier according to their imaginational thoughts.

ts2: as the projects grew big, the experience of effective management becomes more valuable
- financial management
- human resournces management
- operation management

But we can't win only relying on the imaginative thoughts. In the later stage, experience of effective management, finding solutions, and cooperations keep the company going on. That works on everything. For example, Zuckerberg suffered from the human resournces management at the developing stage of Facebook. It also works on the scientific field, Priestley worked on thousands experiments to discover the "oxygen".

ts3: equally important is the experience of understanding and meeting the needs of the customers and the society
- deal with the need of the customers
- negotiate with the government  

In conclusion, the experience of running a company and the imagination of starting a company are both important, valuable and indispensible. Like Zuckerberg won't continue his enterprise without Chris's effective management. And of course, without Zuckerberg, there won't come the wonderful thought of Facebook!

I admit imagination is paramount during the emergence of a new industry or scientific field, but at the current stage of most professions and academic fields, which are built with thousands or hundreds years accumulated knowledge, imagination can only have its role when people acquired with proper knowledge.
ts1: When a new industry or academic field is firstly created, imagination is the key that give birth to whatever to be founded.
Example: the invention of steam engine; the discovery of gravity; the theory of evolution
ts2: Now, the twenty-first century, there is rarely brand new discipline emerged. The new areas we see today, if you look into it closely, are mostly all based on or derived from existing knowledge.

个人理解，对issue主题进行分类，分类是可以将整体分成几部分，组合起来还一定是个完整的整体，这个提纲的分领域，实际上没有将不同的领域分类，而只是列举了两个领域，把题目要求的论述任何学科，变成了两个学科，这样一来，本来很有道理的说理，给人感觉就很偏颇，不全面

To study the characteristics of a society, in my perspective, is to observe and learn about the economy, politics, and culture which shape and curve our characteristics everyday. IN order to understand that comprehensively, we have to focus not only the major cities(the cities whose population is at a high level among the country), but also some smaller cities with long history and some cities with the special tradition of their own.

TS1: you can study many characteristics of a country because the boom of the major cities appeals people in different strata .The major cities, which in my definition the cities which gather a large number of people, tend to the be the prestigious cities whose economy are at the top level of the country .In these cities ,we can see all kinds of people who leave away from home to search for a great occupation here. For example, you can see some well-educated elite working in the office building(写字楼) with the beautiful scenery. You can find some diligent workers working in the big factory day by day . TS2:Admittedly, Studying the characteristics of the major cities learn a lot about the society, some special cities with long history will make a complement to a society.However, the smaller cities with some special histories deserve our attention.
Example: Xi An, which is not the major city with a lot of people, is the capital of 6 dynasties in Chinese and the characteristics of the society may arose at that time.
Reason: As the capitals,the central areas of the country at that time, would be emulated by others cities and form a similar characteristics in a wide range.

TS3: The small cities with a some tradition also represent the characteristics of our country because the tradition shaping our characteristics is the legacy from our ancestor.

Specifically, Economy represents the living level of this certain area, a fundamental elementary to social stability. And cultural heritage ranging from historic relics, old buildings, preserved books to traditional customs and even people’s spirits, while policies of the district are decisive to its development and future. Heroes, models who are representative of wide range hardworking but ordinary folks, were selected due to their outstanding and merit qualities to delegate the people and set good examples for young adults. Since heroes are representatives of ordinary people, their characteristics are merely equivalent to the society.

For any field of human kind, imagination and knowledge are all essential. Knowledge matters because it’s the basis for a field to exist for generations. As the crystal of human wisdom, it tells people those questions discussed by their great predecessors and what they got. One can nurture his own thinking by digesting the knowledge. As the scientist Newton put it, “If I have been able to see further, it was only because I stood on the shoulders of giants”. However, knowledge just tells people how others think about the world and how they solve problems. If a person is going to build his own theory and make any fundamental progress in any field, it is imagination that helps. There is no deny that the youth is an essential component of our society, but when we talk about understanding contemporary culture, choosing the most effective way depend on what kinds of culture we are going to have knowledge about. As for a country with long history, the old people representing traditional culture can not be ignored while the youth is the mainstream of the society of country with relative short culture.Besides to better understand contemporary, any part of our society should be considered as they consist the society as a whole.

For the country with long history, it would produce unavoidable bias if we only analyze the trends of its youth.

Some people suppose that the heroes or role models chosen by the society can show the character of the society, Unfortunately, it’s unreasonable according to me. I doubt the statement from 3 aspects: Who select it? How to choose it? And can the selection be representative?
TS1:
    The first thing comes to my mind is that, who choose the heroes.
Maybe the answer is ‘the society’. But, what’s the ‘SOCIETY’? Society is a concept which could be so abstract. However we can never expect an abstract concept to make such a decision, which could be ridiculous. Others will argue that when talking about the ‘society’, we may refer to the majority of people, which makes the outcome reasonable. However it’s not always in this way.
Eg.The Touching China, a TV programme of CCTV
   -- people can select the representatives who touched they most

    关于例子，我觉得也长历史国家的例子可以略说下原因，因为现在只说有价值，很难把握有怎样的价值吧？比如说他们是掌握更多传统知识，肩负着传承它们的责任还是什么之类，可以说一下~
    关于新国家，我在想移民后代是否都算年轻人了。感觉US移民历史那么久，是不是有一部分已经不能算年轻人了，这里是否需要一个界定——怎样的移民后代算是youth？

Ever since we were young, we used to imagine everything from moving ants to mysterious universe. However, as we grow up, we gradually find out that it’s it is impossible to solve the problems only depend on imagination.
I do not believe that knowledge is less important than imagination. On the contrary, the achievement in academic fields can not free from the knowledgeable scientists such as the discovery of Newton's laws of motion and invention of light bulb.
