2. To understand the most important characteristics of a society, one must study its major cities.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.
我写提纲时搭建框架所用的方法是第3种:分类,具体来说,将most important characteristics分为政治(不同公民对国内国际形势的关注度)、经济(不同的消费理念)、文化(不同基础教育普及程度)三类。
我的提纲如下
开头段全文:
It is argued that, in order to figure out the most significant characteristics of a society, studying its major cities is necessary. In my viewpoint, to fully understand a society, including people’s political life, consume concept, and basic education, the rural areas are equally important. Because the political, economic and educational institutions in major city are much different from rural areas and even from small towns.
TS1:
People’ performance in political life represents the political energy of their society, and people’ attitude towards political affairs in major cities greatly differ with those in small towns.
eg.1 To understand the participation of presidential election, only investigating the citizens is not enough, because urban residents may have great enthusiasm to express their opinion but villagers just have no interest in either candidate.
Eg.2 Lots of employers and managers in major city care about the politics and they read newspapers and magazines to keep the pace with the times, while farmers and herdsmen live in village pay no attention to the politics since they think that have nothing to do with them.
TS2:
Another important characteristic of society is people’s consuming concept, which reflects the economy level of the society. Obviously, living standard in metropolitan and countryside are worlds apart.
Eg.1 When people in big city start to investigate large amount of their money in education or stocks, in rural area, people still need to struggle for their food and clothing.
Eg.2 Citizens begin to enjoy the credit service, while some villagers still have a long way to learn what is credit and loan.
TS3
When it comes to elementary education, which best embodies the education level of the society, barely look into major cities would lead to a big misunderstanding.
Eg.1 In big cities, basic education is general, almost every school age child will attend school. However, in rural areas, especially poor country, there are many kids cannot afford school.
Eg.2 The teaching facilities and teaching quality also have big difference in cities and countryside.

主题句和例子的区分度不够,写主题句的时候容易就代入例子了。如何使思路更清晰呢?

People’s performance in political life represents the political energy of their society, and their attitude towards political affairs in major cities greatly differ with those in small towns. Urban residents may have great enthusiasm to express their politic opinion because their salary and promotion have strong connection with policy. On the other hand, people in village are apathy since they are less affected by policy. Famers’ yield depend on their land, and the harvest of herdsmen rely on their hunting skills. Clearly, to understand the participation of political affairs in a society, a poll only about the citizens is not persuasive. For example, lots of employers and managers living in major city read newspapers everyday with concentration on political page and talk about related politic news with friends and colleagues in order to seek clues which will affect their professions. While villagers tend to pay no attention to politics since they think that have nothing to do with their life or work. In this case, we cannot get the conclusion that this society has great passion for politic just from the focus of citizens.
