Most people would agree that buildings represent a valuable record of any society's past, but controversy arises when old buildings stand on ground that modern planners feel could be better used for modern purposes. In such situations, modern development should be given precedence over the preservation of historic buildings so that contemporary needs can be served.

The speaker asserts that modern development should be given precedence over the preservation of historic buildings so that contemporary need can be served. It seems to be attempting that the old buildings has been obsolete and lack the practical value. However, I disagree with this statement. Many old buildings are deeply born in the mind of people due to their historic value and aesthetic value. No any modern building can compare with the important meaning with this respect. Therefore I concede that preserving historic buildings is put on the first place.

First of all, the old buildings represent a valuable record of history. For example, in some old buildings certain famous person ever lived so that it was helpful to find out the life trace of the famous person and provided large amount of information recording the greatness of the person. And also some old buildings represent the past age. They reflect the life style of the people and the level of the civilization and living standard at that time and show us the different customs in different period. And it is also likely that it was the place where ever the most important historic events happened so that it became the irreplaceable evidence to study the history of that time. From the instance, some old buildings witness the history of the past and are relevant to the evolution of human beings. Given the distinctive historic value behind the building we should take precedence to preserve the old buildings.

Moreover, in addition to the record of the past, some old buildings are the symbol of the spirits of the nation. An apt example involves the Forbidden City in Beijing. It represents the highly civilization in that old age compared with the buildings in other countries. It is characteristic of the intelligence and courage of the great Chinese people. On the other hand, there is important aesthetic value. It is contributive to understand the Chinese art ideas and appreciatory standard. For example, the artist emphasizes the beauty of symmetry and combining the light and scenery. All of them distinguish us from other nation and culture and have our own style and creation in architecture. With this respect, we should not replace old buildings with the modern ones. Once the old buildings are destroyed or torn away, they can not be rebuilt as what they used to be. We will lose the valuable cultural heritage and the cultural identity to some extent.

Admittedly, there are some occasion that cotemporary needs seem to be more important then the value of old buildings. For instance, the highway linking the north with the south is constructed in order to the remote people convenient to go to the larger city by means of transportation and thus having more opportunity to change their low living standard. If the old buildings just impede the building of the highway, it has to be destroyed for the greater interests of most people. However, we should be aware of the importance of preserving the old buildings. When we design our plan for the future, we should avoid the conflict between contemporary needs and historic value and find an alternative way to solve this problem in the premise of preserving historic buildings.

In sum, the old buildings have the historical and aesthetical value and demonstrate the distinctive cultural background. When we think about the contemporary needs, we take precedence the important meaning of the history and preserve out valuable heritage of the nation.

写的不错啊。三个论点都不错，尤其是前两个，思路很清晰，你比较善于说理，虽然例子很少，依然能使人信服。当然紫禁城的例子也很好。第一个论点如果再能有个例子就好了。比如希腊的建筑，尽管以及残破，于现代建筑相比显得简陋，但是它的美和价值几乎凌驾于世界上所有的建筑之上。那些残垣断壁，那些积着沙尘的粗圆柱，无一不让人追想凭吊人类历史上最高贵的精神和最光辉的天空。这些无疑时现代建筑无法企及的。

另外，其实你只说了古代建筑的好处，但是这时不够的。因为同样的，别人也可以说一大堆现代建筑的好处。所以谁也说服不了谁。你要说，于现代建筑的好处相比，谁的好处更大，如果不这样做，哪个损失更小。比如，现代建筑并非都得建立在毁掉老建筑的基础上，也不一定为了保持整个城市的现代性，就吧老建筑都拆除。真正现代而文明的城市是依托于一脉相承的文化上的，建筑也是一样。

你的语言也不错，只是有几处词汇还不够精妙。建议平时可以再多揣摩。

我不是很明白你所说的我的b3段,回避了选择,我的意思是说其实即使有一些情况下非要把老楼拆了,也是可以避免的.在保证老楼的前提下,在城市规划的时候可以避开这个矛盾啊.
