Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? For the successful development of a country, it is more important for a government to spend money on the education of very young children (five to ten years old) than to spend money on universities. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
It is acknowledged that education plays a considerably important role in the successful development of a country. However, where the money is supposed to dedicate sparks a heated debate. Some people contend that young children are more important due to the fact that their personality are easy to shape. Be that as is may, I believe spending money on universities is a better choice due to some apparent reasons that will be discussed in this essay.
First of all, comparing to children education, universities need more money. It is known to all that universities always need more money to pay for professors than elementary schools, not to speak of teaching facilities. Take computer science major as an example, universities need to buy some advanced hardware and software to give students opportunities to practice. These state-of-art equipment is so expensive that require more money from the government or donators. On the contrary, children need more time to play and enjoy their happy childhood rather than to do experiments. Along these lines, more money should be invested to universities to help college students acquire more knowledge.
Furthermore, spending money on universities benefits society more quickly. Universities provide personnel support for research institutes and companies which are closely related to the development of society. There is no better way to enhance competitiveness than to dedicate more money to import more talent due to the fact that their innovation is greatly important to researches. China is a good example in this regard. Chinese government put mass of money into the universities to develop their education. As we see that increasing technological and new products are put into their markets and in turn benefit the society.
Last but not least is that high-quality university education help people hone their skills and secure decent jobs. These major companies always set a high standard for their candidates. University could help people foster their abilities that these companies need more quickly than elementary school. Students could adjust themselves more easily and get satisfactory jobs which makes our society more stable.
