“Learning for leaning’s sake is an outdated concept. Today, education must serve an ulterior purpose and be directed toward clear goals.”
孤立的教育已经是过时的想法了。现在的教育应该作用于更高的目的并且由清晰的目标来指引。
第一次限时写的，找了篇教育类的，看着时间流得这么快，脑子就空空的了，结果一下子想不出什么例子了，只是就事论事，可能有点空泛了。请指教！！


Nowadays, a discussion on the purpose of learning is aroused as more sights are attached to it. As far as I am concerned, I disagree with the speaker’s assertion. Learning for learning ‘s sake is not an outdated concept in the primary phases of learning, meanwhile, establishing an ulterior purpose is also indispensable for the future occupational job in society.

Undoubtedly, in the primary school, the process of education is impart students the information of knowledge, that is to say, students is just learning for leaning ‘s sake. As a child, his mind is just like a black sheet of paper, which needs education to make it colorful. He does not know what they need, or what is right, not more to speak about how to set up a clear goal. If education had set up a clear purpose for children in primary schools, they would be restricted in the narrow ken, which may impede their farther development. Only be imbued with the common knowledge by education, students can be make a qualified citizens.

On the other hand, when students enter the universities, education and studying should serve an ulterior purpose in order to be adapted to the occupational job in society. After students have entered university, they must choose their majors for their interests and future occupational job. For example, a student major in history will put his minds in researching different kinds of history record, not the mathematics. While, a student major in computer technology, may need spend much time in learning mathematics. So, different clear goals help students to promote their special ability, not waste time in some worthless things. From that point, serving clear goals can exert one’s energy in his or her interesting things, and ultimately, can live in the rapidly competent world.

Farther more, learning is an endless process which requires people to learn step by step for their farther goals. For example, when a environmental engineer who’s major is chemistry deal with the design of wastewater treatmental pond, what he need is the knowledge of architecture. So, in order to complete this design and try to promote his farther ability in design, he need to leaning some knowledge about the framework of architecture. The scope of knowledge is so broad that no body can be acquainted with all of knowledge. From that point, learning for learning’s sake may make people lose their confidence in learning, and even be bewildering in front of the huge knowledge sea. Only by exploring several special majors and directing clear goals in learning can one be fitter for the competent world.

In sum, it is imperative for empty-headed children to learn for learning’s sake, which can broad their horizon, shape their characters. Meanwhile, for the students who have equipped a certain basic knowledge in university and the people who have worked in society, serving an ulterior purpose is more important for them to develop their abilities in society.
