127 Facts are stubborn things. They cannot be alerted by our wishes, our inclination, or dictates of our passions.
Do(Do…are…? It is really a simple but hard(simple but hard这样说很别扭,可以说it is a simple and also a hard question to answer. Some people think so, the others, however, believe in facts alerted by people's wishes, inclination, or dictates of their passions(你的这句话表述有问题,它的主干是believe in facts, 然后后面的alerted by people's wishes, inclination, or dictates of their passions都是修饰facts而不是一个从句,我觉得可能应该the others believe that facts can be altered by….). In my view, it is primarily up to how we cognize and understand the term of "facts" and, to my certain knowledge and understanding, facts in different realms have(having) different meanings which is (are,应该是复数吧?语态) to be mentioned ( 感觉这里用will be mention这种将来表示法更妥当些,be to do好像多用在主动) in my below(following) argument-of course, I surely (will,应该用将来时吧?) refer to the dictionary-and thus I strongly agree with the speaker's assert(assertion) that facts are stubborn things, and they cannot be alerted by our wishes, our inclination, or the dictates of our passions.
Consider(considering) the science realm, in which we should comprehend facts as "something having real, demonstrable existence", and based on such meaning, we can clearly know that facts are stubborn thing, no matter how reluctant people are to accept them, and no matter how desirably(若这里用desirously, desirable用于受体,BTW,-able的结尾一般用于受体,另外为了和and前面的句子对称,这样可以显得有力度,你可以这样说and no matter how desirous people are to ….不过,desirous 一般和of连用) people want to change them by wishes, inclination, or dictates of passions, nevertheless, all these depression(depression是可数的) and disappointment are invalid. A striking example is about Copernicus(Copernicus’s) theory that the earth and other planets revolve around the sun. This theory heavily disputed the Ptolemaic system of astronomy(Ptolemaic system of.. 嗯,推荐给你一个词doctrine) by Christian(Ch~ society) and, consequently, the work about this theory- ...-had not been published until the(a) year before Copernicus died, (请不要一逗到底)however, although it was a long way to go for the theory before being accepted(a long way to go before the theory was accepted) finally with many following scientists' effort(efforts用复数), such as Galileo, Newton, etc., gradually, people accepted the fact. Another strongly supporting example is about Einstein's theory of relativity, Although his ideas in that time aroused violent controversy and irrational anger, and even the Nobel Prize selection committee had to avoid mentioning relativity and pretend (that)the belated prize was awarded primarily for his work on the quantum theory, today people really considered (你说了今天了,就不要用过去式了)relativity as one of the most accurate and basic law (one of the… LAWS)in physics. From above examples, we cannot help but concede (别用concede,好像很不情愿似的,前面那个can’t help也别用了,让人不知道你的立场到底是站在哪边)that "facts" are facts that cannot be changed by our wishes, at least in science field.
Furthermore, when it comes to society, firstly, we may understand "facts" as "information presented as objective real(reality)". After a president election, when people supporting the loser got the bad news(这句表述得很不好,不知道你这句的主干是什么), it is (of)no use for them to be disappointed and depressed, or even fight and parade(示威性质的游行用manifestation, parade是胜利者炫耀性的游行) for the unfair fact to them, they may be willing to make the loser the president, considering that he may be more friendly and peaceful, (prefer 前面加连接词,或者把它做定语了)prefer to be more kindly(kind) to the public, and take problems of environment pollution and about education more seriously, and so forth (说的太多了吧,别转移大伙儿的注意力啊) . However, for them(their) accepting the fact-his losing is the most hopeful path, because they cannot change the fact by their inclination or dictates of passions now. Secondly, we may understand "facts" as "a thing that has been done, especially a crime" in law. We all know that facts speak louder than words in law(把in law放句首,这样就不会让人误解为是修饰words的了). No matter how penitential a criminal is and how heart-stricken his or her parents(把别人爸妈扯进来干吗?太远了吧,要知道那个什么改卷机器的评分根据之一是你文章的相关度), the fact that he or she will be punished by law cannot be changed. Without facts, laws will be invalid, and without laws(且不说这个without laws的句式的问题,你前面说laws是invalid的,意思就是存在,但无束缚力,你后面至少该说without invalid laws。另外,你要表达的意思是不是,we cannot imagine what a society without laws will be?你该不会要有法律才能想象吧?), we cannot imagine what a society will be.
但是,另外一方面,这样很不严谨,给人感觉像个上帝样的,let there be light! and there was light.
In addition, on personal level, under most cases we have no other choices but accept facts, and Here we understand(别用understand,用take) "facts" as "a real occurrence or an event". A politician has to accept the fact--losing an election; a poet has to accept the fact that in today(~’s) society, people no longer take poems as serious things; a worker has to accept the fact-- losing the job; a student has to accept the fact-- failing in the exam and losing the opportunity of entering an university; a pair of unfortunate parents have to accept the fact--losing their beloved child in an accident, and so on. All of these are things that we are not ready to see and accept, but once these facts really happened(关于这里的虚拟语态,因本人语言修养有限,我持保留意见,因为作为条件状语,一般好像用一般态吧,比如说I am not going to the manifestation if it rains tomorrow) on us, we have no other choices but accept them, in (去掉in)that (which)we are not able to change them within our power, though these facts (may)terribly contravened our wishes, inclination, or dictates of our passions.
In sum, I do not exclude other understanding about the meaning of "facts", and that (窃窃问一句,你这里有个and,那么后面应该是一个独立的句子,那么这个that是指什么? people may hold the opposite view to me. I, however, surely believe that all the "facts" I above referred to are the things stubborn and cannot be alerted by our wishes. I may(请查一下字典,关于may的用法) think that through my statement and argument above, many people may (别说may,说will)agree with me and accept my point, even if there are also a few people who stand on the opposite side, they might take into account such another understanding method about "fact" of mine. (such a …. Sigh~ then what’s your point? )
