“In the age of television, reading books is not as important as it once was. People can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books.”

Within an era of rapid technological and social developments, television, since its invention, has become an indispensable item in people's lives. It has influenced our life in such a way that we cannot imagine what would be without TV sets. However, as to learning, although watching television is considered a means to get something, it cannot provide us more to learn than reading books. Reading books, on the other hands, is as important as it once was, even much more important than it in the past.

Admittedly, television does provide us many materials from which we can learn something, even some we cannot learn from reading books. And watching television has already been accepted as a new way to study. With the help of journalism, television can offer many instant reports on what is happening throughout the world. Fox example, with the vivid images showing how it was going on in Gulf War, we all learnt that in the way to remove tyranny and reach justice, many of our siblings who live together with us in a common home devoted their life to the overall happiness of some people under pressure, and that the justice will always defeat tyranny. Further more, given the pictures of landscape, we learn that how beautiful the earth is where we live in. With the vivid pictures and a sense of immediacy, television helps us in getting good understanding of what it shows us.

However, even with the success of the television in providing us numerous materials to learn and offering assistance, it cannot replace the position held firmly be reading books when it comes to studying. The glass screen of television has served as a obscurity before us preventing us from seeing what is actually there and understanding what it actually means. Reading books, at the other hand, provides us an efficient way to understanding what had been recorded in those books. Take novels and movies adapted from the corresponding novels as an example. When we watch the movie <Pride and Prejudice> made by BBC, we may have focused our attention on whether the actress who personates Elizebath be as beautiful as she is depicted in the novel, and thus fails to catch up what the movie is intended to show. While reading the same novel in the printed papers, we can imagine that as if we were on the spot when Elizebath and Darcy were talking, which strongly show their distinguished characters and their first impression towards each other(exactly the pride and prejudice). While the television gives us a piece of glass which separates us from the truth meaning of the material presents, we develop a sense of "intimacy" when reading books and thus help to create an environment in which we can better understand the spirits of the books. In a word, people can learn much more by reading books than by watching television.

Moreover, facing the challenges brought by rapid development of television, reading books remains its importance as it once was, a position may possibly be even higher in the near future. In the way it brings us materials from which we can learn something, what television gives is massive information and programs where we would possibly lost ourselves in telling what is actually helpful to us between that with litter use. But as to reading books, for example, once we have concentrated on the subject of history, we can devote our time to digging out the essential meaning and lessons brought about by those history books. Hence reading books remains its position in the way of learning. Further more, considering possible new development of television, together with sky-rocket in the Internet, a more competent competitor against books, reading books would likely be put into a higher position. While those new-comers appeal to people to spend time on watching useless dramas or playing internet games from which we can learn little, reading books provide a way for true learning.

In sum, though watching television has made up a great portion of time of people's daily lives, it still cannot provide more for us to learn than the tradition to read books. While maintaining its importance as it once was, reading books will possibly offer us a way, only and final, to learn the truth of everything.

Reading books, on the other hands, is as important as it once was, even much more important这里这个就不需要了吧 than itthat? in the past.开头很好,很快提出了自己的观点。

Admittedly, television does provide us many materials from which we can learn something, even some that we cannot learn from reading books. And watching television has already been accepted as a new way to study. With the help of journalism科技呢, television can offer many instant reports on what is happening throughout the world. Fox example, with the vivid images showing how it was going on in Gulf War如果说最近的伊拉克战争,不是更符合电视的“时效性”么?, we all learnt这个形式?还有这个是学习么? that in the way to remove tyranny and reach justice, many of our siblings who live together with us in a common home devoted their life to the overall happiness of some people under pressure, and that the justice will always defeat tyranny这个不是很有说服力。如果说教你某项技能或工作的程序可能要好点。图文并茂啊. Further more, given the pictures of landscape, we learn重复用词了 that how beautiful the earth is where we live in. With the vivid pictures and a sense of immediacy, television helps us in getting应该可以直接是help...do的形式吧 good understanding of what it shows us.方向是对的,就是还不具有充足的说服力

However, even with the success of the television in providing us numerous materials to learn and offering assistance, it cannot replace the position held firmly beby reading books when it comes to studying. The glass screen of television has served as a obscurity before us preventing us from seeing what is actually there and understanding what it actually means刚才不是说可以看到鲜活的海湾战争的画面么,怎么这里又说preveting ...what is actually there?. Reading books, aton the other hand, provides us an efficient way to understanding what had been recorded in those books怎么说明是efficient呢?. Take novels and movies adapted from the corresponding novels as an example. When we watch the movie <Pride and Prejudice> made by BBC, we may have focused our attention on whether the actress who personates Elizebath be as beautiful as she is depicted in the novel, and thus fails to catch up what the movie is intended to show这个不见得啊. While reading the same novel in the printed papers, we can imagine that as if we were on the spot when Elizebath and Darcy were talking, which strongly shows their distinguished characters and their first impression towards each other(exactly the pride and prejudice)什么. While the television gives us a piece of glass which separates us from the truth meaning of the material presents我觉得如果说有可能电视为了某种需要而改编了一些情节也许会好些, we develop a sense of "intimacy" when reading books and thus help to create an environment in which we can better understand the spirits of the books. In a word, people can learn much more by reading books than by watching television.我觉得还是例子的问题,不能有效的说明你所要表达的观点。

Moreover, facing the challenges brought by rapid development of television, reading books remains its importance as it once was, a position may possibly be even higher in the near future在哪里体现呢,没有具体说明. In the way it brings us materials from which we can learn something, whilewhat television gives is massive information and programs where we would possibly lost ourselves in telling what is actually helpful to us between that with litter usebetween后面好象没有说清楚哦. But as to reading books, for example, once we have concentrated on the subject of history, we can devote our time to digging out the essential meaning and lessons brought about by those history books不懂. Hence reading books remains its position in the way of learning. Further more, considering possible new development of television, together with sky-rocket in the Internet, a more competent competitor against books, reading books would likely be put into a higher position何以见得.

全文说的观点都很清楚,但是一直感觉说服力不强,导致文章很难弄清楚。
