It is undeniable that artists have made great contributions in creating outstanding works and have left the world a great amount of cherished treasures. For example, a great deal of amazing works created in the renaissance are still appreciated by today's society, such as Dan Vinci's Mona Lisa's smile, the great sculpture David, and numerous outstanding music and literature works. If these works are mostly prominent for their artistic value, more works also possess their social meanings. From "Gone with the wind", we can have a complete recognizing of the America Civil War and can comprehend the internal world of people's mind in that very period; while from Stowe's Uncle Tom's cabin, we have the chance to sigh with the sympathy of the American black slavers. All these works are shaped from artists’ ingenious and designing and creating.

However, critics play an even more vital role in making the work of art long lasting. On one hand, critics are more sensitive and adept than our ordinary people to discover excellent works and understand the connotive meaning of them, and are more professional to analyze the value of a work. Since art creating is the production of inspire and talent, many great works of art will be so abstruse for us to understand and appreciate. Without the critics, who are more proficient to these realms, some remarkable works might be ignored by the society. For instance, if critics after Van Gogh's time did not give his work an objective and correct evaluation and introduce them to the society, people in today's world would not have the chance to taste the significant works of such a brilliant person. If the greatest literature work in China“Dream of the Red Chamber” were not studied by some senior scholors and critics and brought to the public by them, perhaps people would not understand the abundant characters and the big background of the story. Critics help us in enjoying art and make many efforts in recognizing the value of works of art so that the great works can be accepted by the society and passed down to our offspring.

On the other hand, critics can to some extent be the directors of young artists and give some guides which are crucial in their way of growing and developing. Similar to any subjects, art is also knowledge for artist to learn, to try and to develop and they need feedbacks of their works so that they can be more skilled and mature in producing notable works. Critics, being close to art and artists, are more likely to bring their suggestions, advices and public's feelings to artists and thus help them accomplishing more and more outstanding works of great value. At the same time, our normal people are lucky enjoy more and more gorgeous paintings, music, literatures and so on.

To conclude, as the famous sculptor Rodin once said,” the world is full of beauty unless we have a pair of eyes to discover it", though artists are dedicate to create beauty, what critics do is just discovering beauty and introducing it to all corner of the world so that everyone can deeply understand the worth and the extraordinary meanings of works of art, and therefore the work can be long lasting in the society.

Embedded in people's life but created by few talented persons, art is so pervasive and elusive that it is so difficult to make a squarely assertion about whether the artist and critic gives society something of lasting value. 这句话认为写得很好，尤其是几个修饰词，像embedded，还有squarely。记得在有一篇文章里看到说是这样的词虽说只是修饰成分，但是却能很精确的表达出意思。值得学习。这也是看了别的文章想到的As a non-expert, it is my belief that although it is the artists who created beauty, the role that critics play should not be neglected either.觉得开头还是比较成功的，给人的First Impression比较好。

From "Gone with the wind", we can have a complete recognizing of the America Civil War and can comprehend the internal world of people's mind in that very period呵呵《乱世佳人》很喜欢的说，尤其是斯佳丽那种坚强的意志; while from Stowe's Uncle Tom's cabin, we have the chance to sigh with the sympathy of the American black slavers. All these works are shaped from artists’ ingenious and designing and creating.

However, critics play an even more vital role in making the work of art long lasting. On one hand, critics are more sensitive and adept than our ordinary people to discover excellent works and understand the connotive meaning of them, and are more professional to analyze the value of a work. Since art creating is the production of inspire and talent, many great works of art will be so abstruse for us to understand and appreciate. Without the critics, who are more proficient to these realms, some remarkable works might be ignored by the society. For instance, if critics after Van Gogh's time did not give his work an objective and correct evaluation and introduce them to the society, people in today's world would not have the chance to taste the significant works of such a brilliant person. If the greatest literature work in China“Dream of the Red Chamber” were not studied by some senior scholors and critics and brought to the public by them, perhaps people would not understand the abundant characters and the big background of the story. Critics help us in enjoying art and make many efforts in recognizing the value of works of art so that the great works can be accepted by the society and passed down to our offspring. 这段很流畅啊，我直接一口气就读下来了。

On the other hand, critics can to some extent be the directors of young artists and give some guides which are crucial in their way of growing and developing. Similar to any subjects, art is also knowledge for artist to learn, to try and to develop and they need feedbacks of their works so that they can be more skilled and mature in producing notable works. Critics, being close to art and artists, are more likely to bring their suggestions, advices and public's feelings to artists and thus help them accomplishing more and more outstanding works of great value. At the same time, our normal people are lucky toenjoy more and more gorgeous paintings, music, literatures and so on. 这段第一眼看上去是有点偏的感觉，不过我想可能是写的时候无法有充分的时间把方方面面都想到的缘故吧。题目里的Lasting绝对是一个非常关键的Keyword，前面一段你说到的是评论家通过帮助展现艺术作品的价值，使得艺术能够得到last；在这一段中，是从间接的角度切入的，评论家对艺术家的成长用帮助。这当然是没错，但是我觉得，如果你能从这个出发点再绕回到Lasting这上面来，这段的论证就可能更切题。艺术要Last，除了有了以前的艺术作品并且它们的价值被认识出来之外，还需要不断的有艺术家出现，并不断的带来艺术作品。正是有了这样一代代的轮回，艺术才能从产生而一直Last到现在。我觉得如果能把评论家的作用从给予艺术家指导，延伸到使得艺术能够在这么长的时间长河里始终连接着而不断线上，那么可能就比较到位了。当然这是我个人的意见，还是希望可以探讨一下啊。 嗯，你的建议很不错，我就是写着就远离了lasting value，一直没拐回来，这个问题我写完了发上去就跟贴说明了
