[size=14.6667px]The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Northeastern University is seeking a postdoctoral research associate working in the interface of urban transportation systems/mobility and air quality modeling.  Research activities include: evaluate, improve, and, calibrate microscopic traffic emission prediction models coupled with traffic simulation models; develop air quality-aware smart traffic management tools; design and assess mitigation strategies to reduce emissions and improve air quality; support the integration of emission model outputs and multiscale air quality models; conduct equity analysis and support city and community decision making; assist with preparation of reports and participate in writing proposals for external funding agencies; disseminate research results at national/international conferences and high-impact journal papers; co-supervise students; participate in educational activities, such as the development of material for related courses. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with other researchers from Northeastern University and with stakeholders from cities, communities, industry, and other sectors via various community engagement activities.

[size=14.6667px]The candidate must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in transportation systems/urban mobility and transportation emissions modeling or closely related field with a strong interdisciplinary background and interests in modeling and computation. Useful experience includes traffic simulation, travel demand modeling, emissions modeling, impact assessment, and analysis of large datasets from multiple sources such as traffic data, emissions, and air quality observations and predictions; excellent computing skills; excellent oral and written communication skills.
